A mounting plate for forming a gas turbine engine component according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a plate body defining an abutment dimensioned to mate with a forming die. The plate body defines at least one internal cooling circuit. The at least one internal cooling circuit includes a passageway having an intermediate portion interconnecting inlet and outlet portions. The intermediate portion is dimensioned to follow a perimeter of the abutment. The intermediate portion includes a plurality of fins extending partially from a first sidewall towards a second sidewall opposed to the first sidewall. A method of forming a gas turbine engine component is also disclosed.

Feeder for swageable lockbolt collars and method of using same

A device is disclosed for supplying swageable collars from a magazine to a swaging tool such that the collars may be affixed to the shanks of lockbolts in a series of application steps. The feeder device can be mounted on the nose assembly of a swaging tool so that collar feeding and swaging can be accomplished in a single-handed operation. The feeder device responds to contact pressure against a work surface during a collar placement maneuver to release a collar from a presentation position for normal swaging. Releasing pressure on the workpiece allows a lower assembly of the feeder device to lift the next collar available from a magazine into the presentation position for application to the next lockbolt shank in a series of lockbolts to be finished.

Systems and methods are provided for fastening via a swage tool. One embodiment is a method for fastening via a swage tool. The method includes steps of selecting a hole located at a part, aligning an axis of a lockbolt collar with a center of the hole, placing the lockbolt collar flush against the part at a first end of the hole, and swaging the lockbolt collar onto a lockbolt that has been driven through the hole. This securely fastens the lockbolt collar to the lockbolt.

The invention relates to a hold-down device for a joining drive and joining drive with a hold-down device. The hold-down device includes a hold-down cylinder, wherein the hold-down cylinder provides a hold-down force by means of a pressurized chamber. The pressure chamber consists of the hold-down cylinder and a punch of the joining drive. The pressurization required for the provision of the hold-down force is provided by a hydraulic circuit of the joining drive. In the joining mode, the pressure chamber of the hold-down device is connected to a pressure accumulator of the hold-down device, so that a change in volume in the pressure chamber of the hold-down device has no noticeable influence on the pressure in the pressure chamber.

A device and the method serve to set a connecting element, in particular a press-in bolt, on a workpiece. By means of a setting unit, a hole punching operation for introducing a hole and, at the same time, a hole-forming operation are carried out, in which an edge of the hole is deep-drawn using an embossing sleeve and a collar is formed. In a second stage, the connecting element is pressed in, the punching and hole-forming operation and the pressing taking place within the same axial axis without the workpiece being laterally displaced relative to the device.
