Puck wear detection

A transport puck vertically aligns a caulking cartridge, nozzle-down. The puck includes (i) a substantially solid lower plug portion, having a lead face and a bottom face and an center passageway that is at least partially inverted frustum-shaped that forms a side contact face that tapers from a wider lead face opening to a narrower bottom face opening; and or to a tubular sleeve from the side contact face to the bottom face opening; (ii) an upper sleeve, shaped to receive the caulking cartridge in a desired vertical alignment to the lower plug portion; and (iii) at least one funnel-shaped bore into the bottom face with an inserted connector comprising a head and stem, the head spaced within the bore to define a spacing that has been determined to identify bottom face wear.

A forging press apparatus includes: a die with a die hole into which a material is to be contained and a relief hole smaller in diameter than the die hole; a molding punch configured to press an inner portion inside a peripheral portion of the material contained in the die hole; and a pressing member provided around an outer periphery of the molding punch to press the peripheral portion. A method includes: loading the material into the die; and forging the cup structure shaped by pressing the inner portion inside the peripheral portion of the material with the molding punch to cause the peripheral portion of the material to be brought into contact with the pressing member, and a part of the material to be pushed out into the relief hole by the molding punch to form a projection while a space is secured below the projection.

Cartridge casing

A cartridge casing comprises a casing tube having a first end and a head cap. The first end of the casing tube abuts and is joined with the head cap such that an orifice in the first end of the casing tube is aligned with a passage in the head cap to define a flash passage. The head cap and casing tube are held together by a deformable member.

A method of manufacturing a casing for an ammunition cartridge includes injection molding a polymer forming the casing using an injection mold. The casing is cylindrically shaped along a longitudinal axis extending from a base to a distal end with a blind hole formed therein. The blind hole has a primer retention feature disposed at the base and leads into a flash hole. An insulator and/or reflector is placed around at least a portion of the casing separating the base from the neck. A heater directly heats the neck of the casing while not directly heating the base. A stretch rod is inserted into the blind hole stretching the neck. The casing is inserted into a blow mold and pressurized causing the neck of the casing to be blow molded. At least a portion of the distal end of the casing is removed.

An automatic processing press preferably includes a lower die carrier, a pair of support posts, an upper die carrier, an actuation device, a case slider and an automatic feeder magazine. The lower die carrier preferably includes a base portion. The case slider is slidably retained on the case slider support. The automatic feeder magazine includes a feed plate, a tube holder and a threaded stud. The threaded stud is retained by the base portion of the lower die carrier. The pair of support posts are retained in the base portion. The upper die carrier is slidably retained on the pair of support posts. The actuation device is pivotally engaged with the upper die carrier and the lower die carrier to move the upper die carrier downward. A bullet resizing die system and a case resizing die system are capable of being threaded into the upper and lower die carriers.
