Apparatus and method for supporting a human body using supernumerary artificial limbs
An apparatus includes at least one supernumerary artificial limb and a base structure configured to couple with a human body. The base structure includes a sensor that obtains a measurement regarding load of the human body. The proximal end of the supernumerary artificial limb is coupled to the base structure. The apparatus further includes a processor operatively coupled with the sensor and configured to receive the measurement from the sensor. The processor is also configured to generate a control signal to change at least one of a position of the supernumerary artificial limb and a torque exerted by the supernumerary artificial limb based on the measurement regarding the load.
Swing stool arm
A swing stool arm for use in a swing stool has a horizontal top flange, a horizontal bottom flange, a vertical end flange at a proximal end of the arm, a web extending down from the top flange and up from the bottom flange, and a vertical fillet at the proximal end of the arm. The vertical fillet joins the vertical end flange to the web. The vertical fillet has an open cavity so that the swing stool arm can be made from a cast molten aluminum alloy without forming shrinkage cavities.
Forward tilt assembly for chair seat
A forward tilt assembly configured to tilt forward a seat of a chair. The forward tilt assembly includes a base, a seat plate, and a release mechanism. The seat plate is pivotally mounted to the base and includes two support brackets on the sides of the seat plate. Each support bracket includes a keyhole slot. The release mechanism is operable between locked and unlocked positions and includes a slidable lock pin mounted between the support brackets. The release mechanism includes two keyed collars, one disposed at each end of the lock pin. The collars are received in respective keyhole slots of the support brackets. When the release mechanism is in the unlocked position, the collars are unobstructed from moving within the keyhole slots, and the seat plate can pivot relative to the base, thereby tilting a rear of the chair seat.
