Casting device and method for using same

A casting device having a casting mold and a core for producing a helical casting is described. The may have an expendable core that can be dissolved after the casting process. Advantageous effects of the device and process can be achieved by virtue of the fact that the female mold for accommodating the helical casting during the casting process is formed completely within the outer contour of the core, the female mold being delimited by the core and, at the peripheral boundary surfaces of the female mold, by the casting mold.

Methods, assemblies and apparatuses are for forming a cooling jacket in a cast part of a marine engine, for example in a cylinder head for the marine engine. A cooling jacket core has a longitudinally elongated first portion that forms a first flow path for conveying cooling fluid through the cast part in a first direction and a longitudinally elongated second portion that forms an opposite, second flow path for conveying cooling fluid through the cast part in an opposite, second direction. At least one bridge integrally supports the first and second portions with respect to each other during casting. At least one plug is configured to fit in the cast part where the bridge was located so as to separate the first and second flow paths from each other while sealing the first and second flow paths from an opposite side of the cast part.

Hourglass airfoil cooling configuration

In one exemplary embodiment, an airfoil includes pressure and suction side walls that extend in a chord-wise direction between leading and trailing edges. The pressure and suction side walls also extend in a radial direction to provide an exterior airfoil surface. A cooling passage is arranged between the pressure and suction walls. The cooling passage has a first width in the chord-wise direction near the suction side wall. A second width is in the chord-wise direction near the pressure side wall. A third width is between the pressure and suction side walls. The third width is smaller than the first and second widths.

Systems and methods for producing manufacturing molds for metal casting

Methods and systems for creating a mold for a cast memorialization product are described herein. In a process for creating a mold, a three-dimensional (3D) model of a product design is generated. The product design includes customized features for a memorialization product. A mold design is generated based upon the 3D model of the product design. Printing instructions for creating the mold are generated and accessed by a processing device. The mold is created according to the printing instructions. A product, such as a bronze memorialization product, can be cast using the mold.
