A system for producing electrodes for lead-acid batteries is disclosed. An electrode that has been produced comprises at least one upper and/or one lower frame element as well as a lattice-shaped region that extends away from said upper or lower frame element and has a plurality of openings, the upper and/or lower frame element being of a greater thickness than the lattice-shaped region. Said system comprises the steps of: a) producing a profiled strip-shaped blank using a casting method in which the strip-shaped blank is formed, solely by means of said casting method, to have a greater thickness on one side in at least one of the regions which should eventually form the upper or lower frame element, than the thickness in regions which should eventually form the lattice-shaped region, and b) producing said lattice-shaped region with the openings in a subsequent expanded metal process.

The invention relates to an ingot mold for continuous casting of metals, of the type consisting of an assembly of metal plates backed by cooling devices configured to allow the cooling of the metal plates by the circulation of a cooling fluid, comprising: a) at least one optical fiber, having a plurality of Bragg filters, extending in a wall of at least one of the plates, b) at least one groove formed in a wall of at least one of the plates, in a direction that is not parallel to the casting axis of the ingot mould in at least one portion of the length, the optical fiber extending in the groove, and c) a tongue of shape substantially complementary to the groove closing the groove over its entire length, the groove and the tongue having a shape suitable for the passage of the optical fiber.

Embodiments may provide an apparatus for casting material including: first and second opposing side walls; first and second end walls extending between the first and second side walls, where the first and second opposing side walls and the first and second opposing end walls form a generally rectangular shaped mold cavity. At least one of the first and second opposing side walls may include two or more contact regions, where each of the two or more contact regions may be configured to be displaced relative to a straight line along the side wall.

Disclosed herein is a casting cluster for casting a body of a golf club head made of titanium or a titanium alloy. The casting cluster comprises a receptor and a plurality of runners coupled to the receptor and configured to receive molten metal from the receptor. The casting cluster also includes at least twenty-eight main gates. At least two of the main gates are coupled to each of the runners and each main gate is configured to receive molten metal from a corresponding one of the plurality of runners. The casting cluster further comprises at least twenty-eight molds. Each mold of the at least twenty-eight molds is configured to receive molten metal from a corresponding one of the main gates and to cast a body of a golf club head that has a volume of at least 100 cm.sup.3.

The invention provides a casting equipment (1) for casting melt (15) into a cast product (80) comprising a supply reservoir (10) for supplying the melt (15), a distribution reservoir (20), a casting apparatus (25) having a melt inlet connected to the distribution reservoir (20) for producing the cast product (80), a supply conduit (30) fluidly connecting the supply reservoir (10) and the distribution reservoir (20), an electromagnetic pump (35) provided on the supply conduit (30) and operable to generate a force in the melt (15) in the supply conduit (30), a level sensor (40) for measuring a level of the melt (15) in the distribution reservoir (20) and/or in the supply reservoir (10), a controller operably connected to the pump (35) and the level sensor (40), wherein the supply conduit (30) is sealed or sealable from a pressure of the atmosphere, wherein the controller is configured to control an operation of the pump (35) based on a level signal from the level sensor (40), and wherein, at least during a steady-state casting operation, the casting equipment is configured such that the supply conduit (30) defines a flow path that has a point that is higher than a surface of the melt in the supply reservoir (10) and/or the distribution reservoir (20), and the pump (35) is operated such that the metal level in the distribution reservoir (20) is at a predefined level such as to control a pressure of the melt (15) in the melt inlet of the casting apparatus (25).

A mold plate has a casting side and a rear side remote from the casting side and includes a cooling channel which is open with respect to the rear side 3 and is arranged in the rear side. An insert is arranged in the cooling channel to reduce a flow cross-section of the cooling channel. The insert is fastened to the mold plate in a pivotally movable manner so that the insert can be pivoted from a closed position into an open position.
