MULTICORE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING HOLLOW PRODUCT USING MULTICORE
Provided is a multicore. The multicore includes a first core, being made of a water-insoluble material, having a hollow formed in the first core and, having an opening formed at both ends of the first core and connected to the hollow, a second core, being made of a water-soluble material and disposed inside the hollow, and a coating layer, being configured to surround the first core to prevent at least a portion of the first core and the second core from being exposed to an outside. Further, the first core includes a plurality of spaces to allow a fluid supplied to an interior of the first core to flow toward the second core.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FORMING PART FROM RAPIDLY MANUFACTURED ARTICLE
A manufacturing method includes providing a material that includes a plurality of particles and a binder that is uncured. The method also includes forming a first article from the material including curing the binder to bind a collection of the particles together into the first article. Furthermore, the method includes encasing at least a portion of the first article with an outer member. The outer member defines an internal cavity that corresponds to the first article. Additionally, the method includes heating the outer member and the first article to melt the collection of particles into a molten mass within the internal cavity of the outer member. Moreover, the method includes solidifying the molten mass within the outer member to form a second article. The second article corresponds to at least a portion of the internal cavity of the outer member.
LIGHTWEIGHT NODULAR IRON CRANKSHAFT FOR HEAVY DUTY ENGINE
An automobile vehicle crankshaft including a crankshaft casting of a nodular iron. The crankshaft casting includes multiple main journals coaxially aligned on a common crankshaft casting axis. Multiple crankpin journals are fixedly connected to the main journals by individual webs. Multiple lightening holes have individual ones of the multiple lightening holes integrally formed within individual ones of the crankpin journals during casting. A bubble space is located proximate to a mid-portion of selected ones of the multiple lightening holes of the crankpin journals. The bubble space locally increases a passage size of the selected ones of the multiple lightening holes and reduces a mass of the individual ones of the crankpin journals.

Casting method for forming screw hole on inclined plane of casting, and casting integrated with insert having screw thread
A casting method for forming a fastening part on an inclined plane of a casting may include mounting a plug unit including a casting plug and a screw thread insert combined with the casting plug on a movable mold or a fixed mold; performing casting by moving and combining the movable mold with the fixed mold and injecting a molten metal into a cavity formed between the movable mold and the fixed mold; performing mold opening after the casting; and separating the casting plug from the screw thread insert, wherein when the plug unit is mounted on the mold, the screw thread insert is deployed in the cavity, and a mold plane on which the casting plug is mounted forms an inclined plane having an acute angle against a horizontal plane that is parallel to a movement direction of the movable mold.
Castings and manufacture methods
A method includes casting a metallic material (56) in a mold (20) containing a core, the core having a substrate (40, 44) coated with a coating (42). A removing of the metallic material from the mold and decoring leaves a casting having a layer formed by the coating. The coating has a ceramic having a porosity in a zone (50) near the substrate less than a porosity in a zone (52) away from the substrate.
MICROREACTOR SYSTEMS AND METHODS
In various embodiments, a microreactor features a corrosion-resistant microchannel network encased within a thermally conductive matrix material that may define therewithin one or more hollow heat-exchange conduits.
MINI-CORE SURFACE BONDING
A method of bonding a mini-core to a surface of a core is provided. The method includes providing the mini-core with an attachment device that includes a protrusion of a surface of the mini-core, dipping the protrusion into a supply of paste to transfer a fixed quantity of paste to the protrusion and affixing the protrusion to the surface of the core with the fixed amount of paste interposed between the surface and the protrusion.
Methods and systems to keep a work piece surface free from liquid accumulation while performing liquid-jet guided laser based material processing
A gas flow can be provided together with a liquid jet guided laser beam to remove accumulated liquid on the processing surface. The gas flow can be configured to have minimum interference with the liquid jet guided laser beam, while functions to blow away liquid generated by the liquid jet. Keeping the surface free from accumulated liquid can improve the efficiency of the liquid jet guided laser processing.
Carbon fibers in ceramic cores for investment casting
A method of producing a ceramic core for investment casting is provided. The method includes injecting a slurry into a disposable die. The slurry includes ceramic particles, a binder, and carbon fibers. The method also includes a first heating to eliminate the disposable die, leaving a cured ceramic core including the ceramic particles, binder, and carbon fibers.
