High thermal conductivity disk brakes
09776241 · 2017-10-03 ·

An automotive disk brake assembly installed in an automobile having a wheel. The assembly includes a floating caliper supporting an inner and outer brake pad and a brake rotor having a disk, and a hat, and wherein the hat is bolted to the wheel. A hydraulic cylinder is adapted to push the inner brake pads into the disk surface, causing the floating caliper to move bringing the outer brake pad into contact with the disk. Finally, the rotor is made such that a complete 100 kilometer per hour, 0.9 gross vehicle weight braking causes the disk to expand in thickness by at least 0.15 mm and to cool to shrink in thickness, relative to its expanded thickness, by at least 0.1 mm within 60 seconds of the cessation of braking, in an ambient temperature of less than 30° C.

A coating for a carrier material made of a steel material for joining to an aluminum material includes a first sublayer on the core part side and a second sublayer on the outside. On average, the coating includes approximately 1 to 10 wt. % silicon and iron, the remainder being aluminum. The first sublayer at least approximately includes 42 wt. % iron, 11 wt. % silicon, and no more than approximately 45 wt. % aluminum, which constitutes the remainder, and has a thickness of no more than approximately 3.5 μm. The second sublayer includes approximately 1 to 10 wt. % silicon, the remainder being aluminum, and has a thickness of approximately 5 to approximately 95 μm.

Die cast component

A die cast component includes an insert element with a plurality of form-fitting elements which are designed for the form-fitting connection of the insert element with a casting material. A ratio of a component wall thickness to a wall thickness of the insert element is a maximum of 4.

Method for casting aluminum in rotor

A method for casting aluminum on a rotor, comprising: installing casting equipment on a casting workbench and storing enough molten aluminum in the casting equipment, wherein the casting equipment comprises an heat preserving furnace and an electromagnetic pump arranged at a side of the heat preserving furnace; assembling a plurality of rotor iron cores with a plurality of dies respectively and preheating outside the casting workbench; installing the plurality of preheated dies on a plurality of liquid outlet gates at a top end of the electromagnetic pump, wherein each liquid outlet gate is matched with a liquid inlet gate of the dies; heating and keeping the installed die in a multi-stage heating mode; controlling the pressurizing pressure of the electromagnetic pump in time-period when the electromagnetic pump is used for casting; and after completing casting, moving the plurality of dies out of the casting workbench to be cooled. According to the method for casting aluminum through the rotor, the casting efficiency is improved by reasonably distributing the heating time and the one-time multi-casting mode; the top-down temperature gradient is matched with accurate pressure control, so that the compensation capacity is improved.

A method of additive manufacturing can include forming a machine part having a first portion formed from a cast iron material; forming a second portion adjacent the first portion formed of a combination of the cast iron material and a different material; and forming a third portion adjacent the second portion formed of only the different material, wherein the third portion is located at a predetermined critical area of the machine part.

Composite part with external part cast around internal insert and method for producing the same

Composite parts (100) and methods of making the same are disclosed. A composite part may include an internal insert component (124) made of a first material. The internal insert component may be provided with surface features such as mechanical surface features or material surface features, on at least a portion of its surface. The composite part may further include an external part component (136) that is cast around at least a portion of the internal insert component, and is made of a second material different from the first material. The surface features of the internal insert component may help establish a bond within the composite part between the internal insert component and the external part component.

FILM FORMING METHOD

A film forming method forms a coating film on a workpiece having at least two film-deposited portions which are not continuous with each other by moving a nozzle of a cold spray device relative to each other along a continuous movement trajectory. The movement trajectory includes at least two trajectories corresponding to the film-deposited portions and a connecting trajectory linking the trajectories of the film-deposited portions. The film-deposited portions are formed by continuously spraying a raw material powder from the nozzle by cold spraying to form a coating film on each of the plurality of film-deposited portions. A turnback point of the spraying is set on the connecting trajectory where a relative speed between the workpiece and the nozzle decreases in the movement trajectory.

Method of manufacture and design of cast-in-place valve seats

A cylinder head having a cast-in-place valve seat for an automobile vehicle includes a valve seat having an inner wall. At least one retaining feature integrally and homogeneously extends from the inner wall. The valve seat when positioned into a casting mold has the at least one retaining feature assisting in retaining the valve seat in the casting mold. A metal in a molten form is received in the casting mold. A cast component formed after cooling of the metal has the valve seat cast-in-place.
