Slide member and method for manufacturing same
The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a slide member in which the bonding strength between a Bi-containing copper alloy layer and a substrate is enhanced; and a method for manufacturing the slide member. The slide member according to the present invention has a substrate and a copper alloy layer. The copper alloy layer comprises a copper alloy containing 4.0-25.0 mass % of Bi and has a structure in which Bi phases are scattered in a copper alloy structure. The volume ratio of Bi phases in the region of the copper alloy layer extending 10 m from the bonding interface with the substrate is not more than 2.0%. The slide member is manufactured by casting a molten copper alloy onto the substrate and causing the copper alloy to unidirectionally solidify.
Apparatus and method to avoid fretting fatigue in an engine block
An apparatus for a motor vehicle engine block made of aluminum includes an insert having a first surface and a second surface spaced apart from the first surface, the first surface being substantially flat, and a plurality of projections extending from the second surface, the plurality of projections being inserted into a portion of the engine block to secure the insert to the portion of the engine block. The first surface of the insert is configured to mate with another component, other than the engine block, made of steel or cast iron to avoid fatigue fretting of the aluminum engine block.
Cylinder liner, block manufacturing method and cylinder liner manufacturing method
A cylinder liner that is casted in a block and defines a cylinder bore corresponding to one cylinder includes: a cylindrical liner body; a projection part provided so as to include a plurality of projections on an outer peripheral surface of a part of the liner body; and a bore adjacent part formed such that the outer peripheral surface at an upper side end of the liner body is positioned more on an inner side of the liner body than the outer peripheral surface below the upper side end, and the projections are absent on at least a part of the outer peripheral surface at the upper side end, in a predetermined range of the outer peripheral surface of the liner body, which faces another cylinder bore to be adjacent when casted in the block.
CYLINDER LINER FOR CAST-COVERING, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING CYLINDER BLOCK
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a cylinder liner for insert casting, with which the bonding strength between a cylinder liner and a cylinder block can be improved by reducing voids generated on the cylinder block. The problem is solved by a cylinder liner for insert casting which includes plural projections on its outer peripheral surface and satisfies the following (i) and (ii): (i) the number of the projections is 5 to 50 per 1 cm.sup.2 on the outer peripheral surface, and (ii) when two 15.2 mm0.03 mm lines are set in parallel with a gap of 3.8 mm therebetween at an arbitrary position on the outer peripheral surface of the cylinder liner, the total number of projections that are in contact with the two lines is 8 or less.
CASTING DEVICE FOR ENGINE CYLINDER BLOCK, CASTING MOLD FOR SAME, AND CASTING METHOD FOR SAME
Provided are a stationary mold configured to form a portion of a bearing portion of a crankshaft and a portion of a crankcase, and a movable mold including a plurality of bore pins respectively defining cylinder bores of cylinders. The bore pins are arranged to correspond to a cylinder bank including the plurality of cylinders. The movable mold is matched with the stationary mold such that portions of outermost ones of the plurality of bore pins in a series direction are each inclined away from another one of the plurality of bore pins adjacent to the outermost bore pin in the series direction toward a distal end of the outermost bore pin, where the series direction represents a direction in which the plurality of bore pins are arranged.
