BARRIER BENCH

A bench that serves as a barrier from ballistics and explosions is disclosed. The bench serves the traditional role of providing a seating area while also providing protection from ballistics and explosions originating from an opposite side of the barrier bench. The bench may comprise one or more panels or plates and an upper wall that are adapted to repel ballistics and blasts. The barrier bench further comprises a series of interconnected members that together form a frame which serves to position the one or more panels and upper wall in a relatively upright position so as to form a barrier against ballistics and explosion blasts.

The frame includes two side profiles lying at a mutual distance and delimiting the seat surface, two side profiles lying at a mutual distance and delimiting the backrest, and an upper profile extending between the side profiles. The seat surface and the backrest are defined by a cloth tensioned between the profiles. This cloth has at an end a folded-back part enclosing the upper profile, and a strap folded round the side profiles for the seat surface. A method for forming such a seat, and a frame and a cloth which are both intended for application in such a seat.

The toilet seat, the lid and the backrest are connected relative to one another such that they are positionable in alternative chair and toilet-use modes. The lid is behind the generally upright backrest when the assembly is in the toilet-use mode and is on the toilet seat when the assembly is in the chair mode. The assembly can have self-supporting legs whereby it can form a standalone chair remote from the toilet. When in a male urination mode, the toilet seat is lifted and the backrest is in a lifted, generally horizontal position.
