A filling for frameless furniture is provided that vastly increases the positional stability of the filling by being comprised of high aspect ratio particles that contact and interlock with many more nearby particles than can be accomplished by substantially mono-dimensional prior art particles. The invention further features a process and apparatus for the manufacture of the high aspect ratio particles that provide substantial advantages over the prior art. Included in the advantages are uniformity of support, minimizing voids without support, and lack of resiliency from clustering, clumping and dense packing, all of which result from size disparity of prior art filling that is made rather crudely by foam shredding machines. The invention further includes an apparatus for fabricating the filler.

A balance and stability system for use by an individual who is required to maintain a standing position for a prolonged period includes a balance reference and support pad positioned to contact the individual at their shins while standing at a work station, which balance and support pad is mounted on a support structure including an elongate support arm such that the pad is at the proper vertical and horizontal location to provide a balance point of contact with the individual's shins and, yet, a completely open space is provided between the pad and the floor to thereby allow for free movement of the individual's feet forward, backward, and side-to-side.

A portable deployable stanchion assists a seated individual. The stanchion includes an elongate arcuate support base shaped and dimensioned to extend from the heel along the rear of the ankle and at least a portion of the calf of an individual. A first telescoping member is pivotally attached to the support base. A second articulating support member is attached to the support base and to the telescoping member. The telescoping member when deployed has a length in the range of twelve to twenty-four inches.

A device and method for maintaining a user's legs in an elevated position. In particular, a base plate, a plurality of retractable leg members, a plurality of hinges, an attachment means. The base plate is adaptable to attach with the user's leg or footwear. The plurality of retractable leg members is adaptable to operate in a deployed configuration and/or in a stored configuration, and a locking mechanism is presented. In use, the device allows the user's leg to rest such that the foot is tilted inward or outward from the body. Finally, in the stored configuration, the plurality of retractable leg members becomes parallel with the rear surface of the base plate, thereby allowing the user to perform body movements without removing the leg support device.

The present invention relates to a two-stage foot support device, which is located in front of a chair under a desk or various tables, to allow a user to place a foot or calf on the device and work or take a rest with a comfortable posture, and the device comprises: a lower footboard support means having a lower footboard which is fixed thereto and on which the user's foot is placed; and an upper footboard support means positioned above the lower footboard support means and having an upper footboard which is fixed thereto and on which the user's foot or calf is placed, wherein the upper and the lower footboard are installed to be rotatable from the upper and the lower footboard support means, respectively, so that the upper and the lower footboard can be selectively folded or unfolded for use.

A portable leg cast support includes an upper member and a lower member in a telescoping relation. A row of locking holes spanning the length of the upper member allows the telescoping components to be locked together at a user-selectable height for supporting a user's leg cast at an elevated position. A stirrup is pivotally connected to the top of the upper telescopic member for accepting and supporting a leg at the ankle. When the upper and lower telescoping members are in a retracted configuration and the stirrup is folded against the upper member, the support can be strapped to the leg cast for transport until it is needed as a support.

A versatile item of home furniture having multiple sections joined by glides to allow all sections to be nested or encapsulated together in an ottoman configuration or, alternatively, be positioned as steps in a step configuration. The sections may include being in a seating configuration wherein the steps are disengaged from each other and include cushions received in recesses at the tops of the structure.

The invention is directed to an intensive use furniture component having a sealing connection on a mounting surface for sealingly attaching to a floor or wall to prevent liquid from seeping under or behind the furniture component. The furniture component is formed by an outer shell having a side wall extending generally perpendicular to the mounting surface. A mounting flange is disposed adjacent the sidewall. A bolt hole is formed in the mounting flange. The sealing connection comprises a caulk channel formed as a channel in the mounting surface for receiving a bead of caulk to fill the seam between the mounting surface and the wall or floor to prevent fluid from seeping past the caulk channel to a space adjacent the interior mounting surface.

An apparatus for use in foot care or foot maintenance. The apparatus comprises a base plate, a back plate rotatably attached to the base plate, and a top plate rotatably attached to the back plate. The apparatus further comprises a kickstand pivotally attached to the top plate for engaging the base plate at a plurality of positions on the base plate. The apparatus may further comprise an accessory component attached to the back plate. A user adjusts the angle of the top plate with respect to the base plate by moving the kickstand along plurality of positions on the base plate. The user then places a foot on the top plate and uses the accessory component to assist in foot care or maintenance.
