A molding machine for molding material is provided. The machine includes a cavity to be filled with molten metal and a conduit system leading to the cavity, thus forming a system of interconnected hollow spaces. At least one pressure member is moveable in at least part of the conduit system. A centrifugal pump in fluid communication with a reservoir of molten metal is provided, the pump providing molten metal to the hollow space receiving the at least one pressure member.

The machine includes a cavity to be filled with molten metal and a conduit system leading to the cavity, thus forming a system of interconnected hollow spaces. At least one pressure member is moveable in at least part of the conduit system. The transfer assembly includes apparatus and method for removing sedimentation from the liquid metal and/or metal alloy received from the heating assembly and extracting the same prior to the metal and/or metal alloy reaching the mould filling assembly at which the same is supplied to fill a cavity of a mould and which, once filled, can be slid to a location to cool and thereby make available the mould filling assembly for the next mould to be filled. This apparatus and method provide an efficient, high throughput system, along with high quality cast items.

A lifting mechanism is located on the upper surface of the mould, the lifting mechanism being operable to lift the funnel of the shroud away from the upper surface for bringing the shroud into engagement with a ladle nozzle. Also provided is a method for casting molten metals using the system.

A region of the mold cavity forms a cylinder space of the cylinder crankcase. A dosing furnace contains a liquid metal. At least one gate is arranged geodetically below the mold cavity and via which the dosing furnace can be fluidically connected to the mold cavity. Sprue bushings project into the region of the mold cavity that forms the cylinder space of the cylinder crankcase. Each of the at least one gate is connected to one of the sprue bushings.
