A 3-D PRINTING METHOD AND A 3-D PRINTOUT
A 3-D printing method and a 3-D printout are provided. In an embodiment, the 3-D printing method includes laser-scanning a printing material according to a 3-D printing model so that the printing material starts to be sintered into a printout in a shape, layer by layer from the bottom up; and feeding a treatment gas into a 3-D printing device and laser-scan a local area of the printout so that the treatment gas reacts with the surface of the local area of the printout and a hardened layer is formed. The laser scanning and the feeding of the treatment gas are performed alternately until a printout with local hardened layers is formed. By adjusting the gas environment, the components can be manufactured by selective laser melting equipment to have a wear- and corrosion-resistant nitrided surface layer and keep the expected ductility of the central area.

Method for producing a sintered component and a sintered component
The present invention concerns a method of making sintered components made from an iron-based powder composition and the sintered component per se. The method is especially suited for producing components which will be subjected to wear at elevated temperatures, consequently the components consists of a heat resistant stainless steel with hard phases including chromium carbo-nitrides. Examples of such components are parts in turbochargers for internal combustion engines.

METALLIC MATRIX COMPOSITE WITH HIGH STRENGTH TITANIUM ALUMINIDE ALLOY MATRIX AND IN SITU FORMED ALUMINUM OXIDE REINFORCEMENT
Metallic matrix composites include a high strength titanium aluminide alloy matrix and an in situ formed aluminum oxide reinforcement. The atomic percentage of aluminum in the titanium aluminide alloy matrix can vary from 40% to 48%. Included are methods of making the metallic matrix composites, in particular, through the performance of an exothermic chemical reaction. The metallic matrix composites can exhibit low porosity.

METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING AND FORMING VIABLE HIGH ENTROPY ALLOYS VIA ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING
A method for making a component comprising a high entropy alloy (HEA) includes combining a reaction component with a powdered HEA precursor, igniting the combination of the reaction component and the powdered HEA precursor to induce a self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) reaction and to form a solid HEA feedstock, converting the solid HEA feedstock into a powder HEA feedstock, and additively manufacturing at least a portion of the powder feedstock into a HEA component or HEA preformed shape approximating a desired shape of the component.
