THERMAL ELEMENTS FOR DISASSEMBLY OF NODE-BASED ADHESIVELY BONDED STRUCTURES
Methods and apparatuses for disassembling components are described. An apparatus in accordance with an aspect of the present disclosure comprises a first component including a first adhesive interface, a second component including a second adhesive interface, a joint between the first and second adhesive interfaces, the joint comprising an adhesive bonding to the first adhesive interface and to the second adhesive interface, such that the first component and the second component are joined together, and at least one thermal element in the adhesive, wherein the at least one thermal element is configured to weaken the joint by heating the adhesive when an energy is applied to the thermal element.
Frangible firearm projectiles, methods for forming the same, and firearm cartridges containing the same
Frangible firearm projectiles, firearm cartridges, and methods for forming the same. The projectiles are formed from metal powder and include an anti-sparking agent. One or more of iron, zinc, bismuth, tin, copper, nickel, tungsten, boron, and/or alloys thereof may form the metal powder. The projectiles may be formed from a compacted mixture of two or more different metal powders. The anti-sparking agent may include a borate, such as boric acid, zinc chloride, and/or petrolatum. The anti-sparking agent may be dispersed within, and/or applied as a coating on, the exterior of the projectile. The compacted mixture may be heat treated for a time sufficient to form a plurality of discrete alloy domains within the compacted mixture. Such domains may be formed by a mechanism that includes vapor-phase diffusion bonding and oxidation of the metal powders and that does form a liquid phase of the metal powder or utilize a polymeric binder.
Cantilevered mask for openings in additively manufactured part
A mask is provided for an additively manufactured part including a plurality of spaced openings in a surface of the part. The mask is made with the part and includes an attachment ligament configured to integrally couple to the part between the openings in a cantilever fashion. First and second cover members include a proximal ends integrally coupled to the attachment ligament and distal ends extending at least partially over a respective portions of the plurality of openings. A detachment member extends from each of the first and second cover members. The attachment ligament is the sole connection to the part. The mask may have an umbrella shape in cross-section.
Conveyor idler and support structure and methods for constructing the same
This invention provides an idler for use in conveyor systems and associated shaft and support structure that reduces the potential for infiltration of contaminants into the bearing assemblies at the opposing ends of the shaft. By use of stampings, co-molded polymer with sealed metal end caps, press-fit end shafts and stamped-metal support structures a more contamination-resistant and efficiently constructed idler assembly is provided. A hollow shaft center section can be used. The polymer defines at least three sealing structures. The shaft defines a multi-piece unit, with the end shafts press-fit onto the center shaft section and held in place by the bearing subassemblies—affixed to the idler sleeve. The support framework includes three stamped and/or cut, and folded sheet metal pieces—a center section with a pair of opposing central risers that engage end shafts, and two opposing, separately attached, end risers, that engage outermost idler end shafts.
Powder removal floating structures
An article of manufacture includes a part structure formed via a first additive manufacturing process and a floating structure within the part structure which is mechanically decoupled from the part structure. The floating structure is formed concurrently with the part structure via the first additive manufacturing process.

Method of manufacture and predicting powder degredation in an additive manufacturing process
A method of additive manufacture involves building a container 8 and a structure by fusing powder 12, 13, 14, such that the container contains the structure and unfused powder. The container 8 may be used in a method for predicting powder degradation in an additive manufacturing process. Containers containing different types of structure may be built to measure the effect of building different types of structures on powder degradation. A structure to be built may be characterised by classes of structural features it contains and information obtained used from building containers used to predict how building the structure will degrade powder.

OBJECT MODEL DATA MODIFICATION FOR THREE DIMENSIONAL PRINTERS
Object model data modification is described in which object model data defining a first object to be generated by a three-dimensional printer may be obtained. A determination whether the first object is an object that may be adversely affected by a post-processing apparatus during post-processing based on a geometry of the first object to be generated can be made; and if the determination is affirmative, the object model data may be modified by adding a structure to the object model data to create a modified object comprising the first object and the structure, the modified object of a different geometry to the first object so as not to be adversely affected by the post-processing apparatus during the post-processing.
Conforming coating mask for a component and system background
A conforming coating mask is used with a turbine component having a plurality of cooling holes. The conforming coating mask includes at least two anchors; a plurality of radial mask strips integrally formed with and extending between each of the at least two anchors; and at least one coating mask securing insert. Each at least one coating mask securing insert integrally formed with a respective at least one radial mask strip; wherein the plurality of radial mask strips align with and cover the plurality of cooling holes.
