Porous substrate with porous nano-particles structure and production method thereof

In the porous substrate loaded with porous nano-particles structure and one-step micro-plasma production method thereof, since the micro-plasma system enhances the electron density and promotes reaction speed in the reaction without generating thermal effect, the method may be performed at an atmosphere environment. The nano-particles also can be quickly obtained by aforementioned micro-plasma system. The electromagnetic field generated by the micro-plasma can drive the nano-particles to be loaded onto the porous substrate in a one step, rapid and low cost process to improve the conventional techniques which require a relatively long procedure time and a complicated process.

A method for fabricating a functionally graded tungsten-copper composite (W—Cu FGC) may include the following steps. A binder alloy powder may be prepared that may include mechanically alloyed metal powders of nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), and manganese (Mn); the binder alloy powder may be mixed with a pure tungsten (W) powder to obtain a modified W powder; a plurality of W—Cu composite powders may be prepared by mixing the modified W powder with pure copper powder with different ratios; the plurality of W—Cu composite powders may then be stacked inside a die; the stacked plurality of W—Cu composite powders may be pressed inside the die to obtain a W—Cu compact; and the W—Cu compact may be sintered to obtain a W—Cu FGC.

Method of 3D printing a cellular solid

A method of printing a cellular solid (120) by direct bubble writing comprises introducing an ink formulation (102) comprising a polymerizable monomer and a gas (104) into a nozzle (106), which includes a core flow channel (108) radially surrounded by an outer flow channel (110). The ink formulation is directed into the outer flow channel (110) and the gas is directed into the core flow channel (108). The ink formulation (102) and the gas (104) are ejected out of the nozzle (106) as a stream of bubbles (112), where each bubble includes a core (114) comprising the gas and a liquid shell (116) overlying the core that comprises the ink formulation. After ejection, the polymerizable monomer is polymerized to form a solid polymeric shell (118) from the liquid shell (116), and the bubbles are deposited on a substrate (122) moving relative to the nozzle (106). Thus, a polymeric cellular solid (120) having a predetermined geometry is printed.

CATALYST MANUFACTURING METHOD

A method for producing a catalyst or catalyst precursor is described including: applying a slurry of a particulate catalyst compound in a carrier fluid to an additive layer manufactured support structure to form a slurry-impregnated support, and drying and optionally calcining the slurry-impregnated support to form a catalyst or catalyst precursor. The mean particle size (D50) of the particulate catalyst compound in the slurry is in the range 1-50 μm and the support structure has a porosity ≧0.02 ml/g.
