HYBRID MANUFACTURING PROCESS FOR HEAT EXCHANGER
A heat exchanger includes a base and a plurality of substantially parallel and substantially vertical walls spaced apart and integrally formed with the base via additive manufacturing. The heat exchanger also includes at least one parting sheet not integrally formed with the plurality of walls, but being attached to the plurality of walls, defining flow channels between the walls, the base, and the at least one parting sheet.
ALUMINIUM-NICKEL ALLOY FOR MANUFACTURING A HEAT CONDUCTING PART, SUCH AS A HEAT EXCHANGER
An alloy formed of aluminum, nickel, scandium and optionally one, two or more further metals. The aluminum alloy is suitable for additive manufacturing of lightweight highly thermally conductive components for aircraft, such as heat exchangers. In a first step, a powder of the described aluminum alloy is produced by additive manufacturing, such as laser melting in the L-PBF process. Large grains are able to grow epitaxially along the build direction thereby increasing phonon and electron mobility along the build direction. With this, a higher thermal conductivity can be achieved. In a second step, the preliminary part is hardened by precipitation of secondary phases at 250 to 400 C to form the hardened part. 3D-printed lightweight parts with high thermal conductivity are obtained.
Hybrid additive manufacturing method

In one aspect, a method includes providing a workpiece and manufacturing multiple additive layers on a surface of the workpiece. Manufacturing each of the multiple additive layers includes forming one or more formed layers on a surface of the workpiece by depositing a quantity of powder material on a growth surface, the growth surface inclusive of at least one of a first surface of the workpiece and a second surface of a previously formed layer, and applying a first amount of energy to the quantity of powder material to fuse the particles of the powder material into a formed layer fused to the growth surface, where the formed layer includes a formed surface, and further applying a secondary process to a particular area of the formed surface of the one or more formed layers on the workpiece.

Electro-responsive folding and unfolding composite material for 4D printing, method for manufacturing same, and method for regulating shape memory behavior thereof
The present invention relates to the field of 4D printing, and particularly to an electro-responsive folding and unfolding composite material for 4D printing, a method for manufacturing the same, and a method for regulating shape memory behavior thereof. In the process of layer-by-layer printing, conductive layers are embedded into a pre-designed shape memory polymer matrix through spray-coating and laser-irradiation nano-fusion welding, to manufacture a folding and unfolding structure with electro-responsive shape memory behavior. The distribution and range of heat affected zones in the electro-responsive shape memory folding and unfolding structure are controlled by adjusting the number of electric heating layers energized and the value of an energizing voltage. The speed of shape recovery and the degree of shape recovery of the structure are regulated according to a magnitude relationship between a shape recovery force F.sub.recovery and a resistance F.sub.resistance to shape recovery of the structure.
PROCESSING SYSTEM
A processing system includes: a processing apparatus for processing an object; a rotation apparatus for rotating a holding part holding the object; a movement apparatus for moving at least one of the processing apparatus and the holding part; a measurement apparatus for measuring at least a part of the object held by the holding part; and a control apparatus for controlling the movement apparatus and the rotation apparatus based on a measured result by the measurement apparatus to rotate the holding part and to move at least one of the processing apparatus and the holding part
METHOD OF OPERATION FOR AN APPARATUS FOR LAYER-BY-LAYER MANUFACTURE OF 3D OBJECTS
A method of manufacturing 3D objects with an apparatus having first and second heat sources and a thermal sensor. The method includes carrying out a build process after a thermal calibration process for a thermal control component(s). The calibration and build processes include a layer cycle including (i) providing a layer of particulate material defining a build bed surface; (ia) heating the surface; (ii) depositing absorption modifier over a layer-specific region and/or a surrounding area; (iii) heating the layer-specific region with the first heat source; and (iv) measuring a temperature of the surface after at least one of (i) to (iii). The layer cycle includes heating the surface of each layer with the second heat source and repeating until the calibration/build processes are complete. The outcome of each calibration routine being based on the measured temperature and being applied to the thermal control component for the subsequent layer cycle.
