Alloy Member Production Method and Alloy Member
Provided are: a method for producing an alloy member that is fabricated by additive manufacturing and has increased mechanical strength and ductility as well as higher corrosion resistance; and the alloy member produced from this method. The alloy member production method comprises: an additive manufacturing step for forming products by additive manufacturing using an alloy powder including each of Co, Cr, Fe, Ni, and Ti in the range of 5-35 atom % and Mo in the range of greater than 0 atom % and 8 atom % or less, the balance comprising unavoidable impurities; a heat treatment step for raising a temperature of the products through heating, and holding the products in the temperature range of 1080-1180° C.; and a forced cooling step for cooling the products after the heat treatment in the temperature range from the holding temperature to 800° C. at a cooling rate of 110-2400° C./min.
THERMAL CONTROL APPARATUS FOR LASER SYSTEM
A thermal control apparatus including a body defining a centerline axis extended along a height and a circumferential direction extended relative to the centerline axis. The body forms a flow circuit therethrough, an inlet opening, and an outlet opening each in fluid communication with the flow circuit. The flow circuit is extended in parallel flow arrangement along the circumferential direction from the inlet opening to the outlet opening. A cavity is extended at least partially through the body along the centerline axis. A thermal control system includes the thermal control apparatus, a fluid flow device configured to provide a flow of heat transfer fluid to the apparatus through the inlet opening and to receive the flow of heat transfer fluid from the outlet opening of the apparatus, and a flow conduit providing fluid communication of the flow of heat transfer fluid between the fluid flow device and the apparatus.

Inverted laser sintering systems for fabrication of additively-manufactured parts
Provided is an additive manufacturing process that uses an upward-pointing illumination source, such as a laser, projected through a substrate so as to solidify particulate matter supported by the substrate. The process is then repeated to build a hanging part layer by layer, for example by replenishing particulate matter on the substrate, or by moving the part a second substrate that supports other particulate matter. The disclosed process eliminates the need for a large powder bed and also allows for sintering of different powders in a single layer so as to give rise to parts that include layers that are themselves made from multiple materials. Also provided are related methods, include methods of incorporated cured resins into parts made by fusing particulate matter.
PROCESSING BUILD MATERIAL
According to one example, there is provided an apparatus to process volume of particulate build material. The apparatus comprises a sealable chamber to house a volume of particulate build material, a gas supply to supply the chamber with a predetermined gas, a gas circulator to circulate the gas within the volume of build material, a temperature controller to heat the circulated gas to a predetermined heating temperature to heat the volume of build material to the heating temperature and then to cool the circulated gas to a predetermined cooling temperature to cool the volume of build material to the cooling temperature.
PROCESSING BUILD MATERIAL
According to one example, there is provided an apparatus to process volume of particulate build material. The apparatus comprises a sealable chamber to house a volume of particulate build material, a gas supply to supply the chamber with a predetermined gas, a gas circulator to circulate the gas within the volume of build material, a temperature controller to heat the circulated gas to a predetermined heating temperature to heat the volume of build material to the heating temperature and then to cool the circulated gas to a predetermined cooling temperature to cool the volume of build material to the cooling temperature.

A machine tool arranged to deliver an energy source through a processing head onto a work-piece, wherein; the machine-tool has a clamping mechanism arranged to temporarily receive the processing-head, or another machining or processing-head, to process a work-piece; the processing-head comprising one or more guiding mechanisms arranged to direct the energy source onto a work-piece and a processing-head docking-manifold arranged to have connected thereto one or more media to be, in use, supplied to the processing-head to facilitate processing of the work-piece; wherein the processing-head docking-manifold allows the one or more media to be supplied to the processing-head when the processing-head is connected to the clamping mechanism; and wherein the machine-tool also comprises at least one mechanism arranged to move a supply docking-manifold into and/or out of connection with the processing-head docking-manifold such that when the two manifolds are connected the or each media is supplied to the processing head.

A method of operating an apparatus (10) for producing a three-dimensional work piece (18) by irradiating layers of a raw material powder with electromagnetic or particle radiation comprises the steps of a) applying a layer of raw material powder onto a carrier (12); b) selectively irradiating the layer of raw material powder with electromagnetic or particle radiation in accordance with a geometry of a corresponding layer of the work piece (18) to be produced; and c) repeating steps a) and b) until the work piece (18) has reached the desired shape and size. For at least a portion of at least some of the layers, a scanning time (t.sub.s) from the beginning of the exposure of a respective raw material powder layer portion to electromagnetic or particle radiation until the beginning of the exposure of a new raw material powder layer applied on top of said layer portion to electromagnetic or particle radiation is controlled so as to not fall below a specific minimum value which is individually set for said layer portion in dependence on a layer portion specific quality parameter. layer portion specific quality parameter
