EXTENDABLE SUPPORT ASSEMBLY FOR A PATIENT SUPPORT DEVICE
There is provided a backrest pivoting system having a backrest and an actuator for pivoting the backrest. The actuator is pivotably connected to the backrest by a pivot defining a first pivot axis. The backrest is configured to pivot about a guide member which defines a second pivot axis coaxial with the first pivot axis. There is also provided a backrest pivoting system including an actuator and a resilient member mounted in series with the actuator. There is also provided an extendable user support assembly comprising a lower body support panel and a core support panel supported by a frame, the lower body support panel being translatable relative to the frame such that an opening is created between the lower body support panel and the core support panel when the lower body support panel is translated away from the core support panel. There is also provided a method for placing a bed in a vascular position.

Lightweight modular bed
A lightweight modular bed includes a front base frame, a rear base frame, a front support frame unit mounted on the frame base frame, a rear support frame unit mounted on the rear base frame, a first front linkage unit with a first front retaining member, a second front retaining member, a first rear linkage unit with a first rear retaining member, a second rear retaining member, a front supporting web which has two lateral portions retained by the first and second front retaining members, and a rear support web which has two lateral portions retained by the first and second rear retaining members. When each of the first front and rear retaining members is displaced to a stretching position, a corresponding one of front and rear support webs is fully stretched.

Ultra-compact profile actuation system for an adjustable bed
An articulating bed incorporates a support frame with a head end, a foot end and having side frame members. A carriage having a seat support is carried by the frame, mounted with wheels engaging the side frame members to translate from a first position through a range progressing toward the head end to a fully translated position. An upper body support is rotatably connected to the carriage and carries a mattress support. At least one telescoping rotation strut is attached at a first end and rotates through an axle pivotally attached to the side frame members. The telescoping rotation strut engages at a second end the upper body support. At least one fixed length rotation arm is carried at a first end by a rotating tube and pivotally attaches to the upper body support at a second end. The rotating tube is mounted on wheels constrained in a track and translates laterally in the track to contact a track end proximate the head end of the frame at a termination of a first range of motion. The telescoping strut approaches a vertical orientation and transfers reaction forces resulting from translation of the carriage to the fixed length rotation arm, whereupon the telescoping rotations struts extend.
Adjustable mattress foundation
Adjustable mattress foundations generally include a mattress support surface including a head and back section hingedly connected to an intermediate seat section at one end and a leg and foot section hingedly connected to the intermediate seat section at another end. The intermediate seat section includes spaced apart upper and lower panels, wherein the lower panel is hingedly connected to the head and back section and slideably engaged with side frame members of the foundation, and wherein the upper panel is stationary and hingedly connected to the leg and foot section. A linear actuator is operatively coupled to a linkage assembly to independently effect inclination or declination of the head and back section relative to the intermediate seat section and is further operative to effect an increase or decrease in a length of the intermediate seat section by movement of the lower panel relative to the upper panel.

Electric motor driven adjustable mattress
An electric motor driven adjustable mattress has a shared casing in which a flat cushion element of a cushion structure and an electric motor driven adjustable support apparatus for supporting the cushion element are accommodated. The support apparatus has two or more support parts that are adjustable relative to one another, and that on their sides facing the cushion element are provided with spring elements for elastically resiliently supporting the cushion element. The support part, in addition to the spring elements situated on the side facing the cushion element, is also provided with further spring elements on the side facing away from the cushion element, so that the support apparatus is provided at least in sections, with spring elements on both sides along its longitudinal extension.
