A device is disclosed for facilitating rotation of a mattress in a horizontal plane carried by a box spring or a platform. In order to facilitate rotation, slick surfaces between the mattress and the box spring or platform are selectively placed in contact in order to reduce the normal friction therebetween. The slick surfaces may be provided by two (2) separate covers; one cover for the mattress and one cover for the box spring or platform. A first cover is provided with a slick and non-slick surface. In order to further facilitate rotation, a second cover includes a slick surface on one side and forms part of a levitation device. The other side of the second cover may be formed with a slick or a non-slick surface. The levitation device creates an air cushion between the mattress and the box spring under the influence of an air supply which lifts the mattress and allows the mattress to be rotated in a horizontal plane virtually effortlessly. Once the mattress has been rotated to the desired position, the air supply is removed and the first cover is attached to the underside of the mattress so that its non-slick side is in contact with the box spring or platform or bed skirt and its slick side is in contact with the slick side of the other cover and the levitation device defining a normal mode of operation. In a rotate mode of operation, the first cover is attached to the box spring or platform so that its non-slick surface is in contact therewith. Alternatively, the first cover may be integrally incorporated into the box spring or a slick surface may be integrally formed on the platform that forms part of the platform bed. In this embodiment, in order to reduce movement of the mattress with respect to the box spring or platform, the mattress is secured relative to the box spring or platform by removable fasteners in a normal mode of operation. In yet another alternate embodiment of the invention, a portion of the levitation device may be built into the mattress.

Easy Change Mattress Sheet Attachment System

An example easy change mattress sheet attachment system includes a bed sheet having four sewn-on fabric casings in an arch shape and a cord inserted through the casings forming a set of accessible sections of drawstring at exposed between-casing cord regions at four corners, and a bottom mat having means for trapping drawstrings at four corners. After having installed the bottom mat under the mattress, one can install and remove the top sheet onto and from the mattress without having to lift up the mattress. To install the top sheet, first put the top sheet on the mattress, then execute drawstring-trapping maneuvers at four bed corners. To remove the top sheet, detach the engaged drawstrings at four bed corners.

FITTINGS FOR A BOX SPRING

The present invention relates to fittings and an interior conduit to providing a continuous air flow path from a vertical wall of the box spring to a horizontal surface of the box spring to selectively supply to an inflatable volume integrated into a top surface of the box spring. Fittings are provided on a vertical wall for connection to an external source of air. Another set of fittings are provided on a top surface of the box spring for connection to an inflatable bladder, A conduit inside the box spring is connected to an interior nozzle on each of the fittings to provide a continuous flow path from the fittings on the vertical to the fittings on the horizontal surface. The side wall fittings allow an external source of air to be supported or alternatively provide a stable connection for a conduit. With such a configuration, a mattress being supported by a box spring can be maneuvered under the influence of the inflatable bladder without affecting the external source of air.

Body support cushions, such as mattresses, are disclosed. The cushions comprise a plurality of separate and distinct consecutive layers overlying over each other in a depth direction. Each layer includes thermal effusivity enhancing material with a thermal effusivity greater than or equal to 2,500 Ws.sup.0.5/(m.sup.2K) and a solid-to-liquid phase change material (PCM) with a phase change temperature within the range of about 6 to about 45 degrees Celsius. The total thermal effusivity of each of the cooling layers increases with respect to each other in the depth direction, and the total mass of the PCM of each of the cooling layers increases with respect to each other along the depth direction. At least one layer of the cooling layers includes a gradient distribution of the mass of the PCM and the amount of the thermal effusivity enhancing material thereof that increases in the depth direction.

FOUR-IN-ONE MATTRESS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
20240292958 · 2024-09-05 ·

A four-in-one mattress management system and method is disclosed for facilitating various tasks associated with beds of all sizes including making beds; rotating mattresses; holding a bed skirt in place while a mattress is rotated; installing or removing and re-installing a mattress, for example, in order to replace a bed skirt. The system includes an active mode and a passive mode. In an active mode, all four tasks mentioned above can be performed. A passive mode selectable. In a passive mode, the mattress can be easily rotated in a horizontal plane. During that mode, the system holds down the bed skirt while the mattress is being rotated. In an active mode, the present invention facilitates bed making and thus increases the efficiency of the housekeeping staff leaving more time for the housekeeping staff to attend to the rest of the room. The active mode also facilitates installation and replacement of bed skirts.
