11284725 · 2022-03-29 ·

A mattress guard with one or more inflatable bumpers to prevent patients or older adults from accidentally rolling out of or falling out of bed, and also to avoid the patients or older adults from being trapped in hard/rigid bed rails. A mattress cover includes a fitted mattress sheet, one or more inflatable bumpers, and an air pump system to inflate and deflate the one or more bumpers. At least one of the bumpers has a length and a position that optimizes safety and allows for common user movements without requiring deflation of the bumper. A dual pump system may include primary pump with higher inflation rate to initially inflate one or more bumpers and a secondary pump with lower inflation rate and/or that is quieter to maintain inflation of the bumper(s). An alert system can provide alerts to relatives or staff if a patient is endangered.

Bottom rail controlled bed rail

The present bottom rail controlled bed rail is a one handed bed rail where the bottom rail is lifted out of seats in left and right bases, whereupon the guard rail portion of the bed rail is free to swing relative to the left and right bases. When the bottom rail is lifted, the bottom rail slides up right and left end frame members of the guard rail portion. The left and right end frame members remain pivotally engaged to the left and right bases.

A bedside rail, a system of coordinating two bedside rails, and a method of using the one or more bedside rails to prevent a user of an associated mattress from having their elbows slide off the mattress. Each bedside rail has an adjustable vertical component as well as an adjustable bar that can separately moves along the vertical component. A supporting line can extend between the adjustable bars of two bedside rails along opposing sides of a mattress. A cushioned portion over the vertical component can they selectively be elevated adjacent to and above a top surface of the mattress along both sides thereof.

Bed rail having rotating seat for guard frame

A bed rail having a guard frame that prevents a child from rolling off a bed and a pair of legs that extend between the mattress and box spring. The guard frame swings between up and down positions and is pivotally connected to the legs via a first junction. A second junction locks the guard frame to the legs. The second junction includes a rotatable seat that engages a pin extending from the guard frame. The bed rail further includes a strap that engages a proximal end of a leg, a distal end of the leg, and an anchor, which engages the side of the bed opposite of the bed rail.

According to an embodiment, a structure is detachably attached to a bed apparatus. The bed apparatus includes a holder and a first frame that includes a portion extending in a first direction. The structure includes: a first portion of a columnar shape extending in a second direction that intersects the first direction; and a second portion continuous to the first portion and including a portion extending in a third direction that intersects the second direction. The first portion is inserted in the holder so that the holder holds the structure. When the structure is attached to the bed apparatus, an angle between the first direction and the third direction is variable. The structure that can facilitate aid of bed departure can be provided.
