A portable device is disclosed for drilling a hole through a plate and into a wooden tie and/or inserting a lag screw into the hole in the plate and into the wooden tie. The portable device may include a handle and a removable drill with a rechargeable battery that provides power to the portable device. In various embodiments, the portable device may include a quick connect/disconnect component configured to enable the portable device to be used as a tie drill device or a lag screw inserter device by interchangeably connecting either a drill bit or a lag screw socket to the portable device. In various embodiments, the portable device may include quick-release system, a bit-aligning tip, and/or a bit aligning guide to facilitate switching between different tools compatible with the portable device.

An illuminated drill bit assembly for illuminating a work area for a drill without casting a shadow includes a drill bit that can be inserted into a chuck of a power drill. The drill bit has a well integrated therein for insertably receiving an additional drill bit. A cylinder is provided and the drill bit extends through the cylinder. A lighting unit is integrated into the cylinder to emit light outwardly from the cylinder when the lighting unit is turned on. In this way the lighting unit can illuminate the work area without casting a shadow.

A motor starting assembly for starting a pull start motor includes a cup that is attachable to a flywheel of a pull start motor. A cylinder is insertable into the cup and the cylinder engages the cup when the cylinder is rotated in a first direction. In this way the cylinder can rotate the crankshaft of the pull start motor for starting the pull start motor. The cylinder disengages the cup when the when the rotational speed of the cup exceeds the rotational speed of the cylinder. In this way the cylinder facilitate the pull start motor to run without rotating the cylinder. An adapter is releasably attachable to the cylinder and a power drill thereby facilitating the power drill to rotate the cylinder when the power drill is turned on for starting the pull start motor.

Disclosed is a drill attachment device comprising a transfer gear configured to rotate about an axis perpendicular to the axis of a drill used to power the transfer gear. The transfer gear may comprise an open-ended slot which provides a passageway through which a threaded rod may pass. The open-ended slot may further be configured to retain a mechanical nut, enabling a user to run a threaded rod through the open-ended slot for driving the nut along the rod. The transfer gear may also support an external driver, and the drill attachment device may comprise guide slots configured to position the rod and/or nut against the external driver for driving a nut up or down rod.

A motor starting assembly for starting a pull start motor includes a cup that is attachable to a flywheel of a pull start motor. A cylinder is insertable into the cup and the cylinder engages the cup when the cylinder is rotated in a first direction. In this way the cylinder can rotate the crankshaft of the pull start motor for starting the pull start motor. A suction adapter, in particular a suction drill suction adapter, for connecting an insertion tool, in particular a suction drill, to a suction apparatus includes at least one insertion tool receiving region, in which the insertion tool is arranged, at least one connection interface with respect to an insertion tool suction channel of the insertion tool, and at least one, in particular dimensionally stable, discharge guiding unit configured to delimit a suction channel. The present disclosure relates to a portable drill guide that is useable to enable a user to more accurately use a portable drill to drill a substantially vertical hole or angled hole into a workpiece in a controlled straight line. The portable drill guide includes a base plate; a pivot assembly selectively moveable with the base plate; at least one guide column operably engaged with the at least one guide column; and a chuck carrier operably engaged with the at least one guide column and being linearly moveable relative to the base plate.
