Drill and method for processing a workpiece
A method is provided for processing a workpiece by means of a drill, wherein the drill extends along a longitudinal axis and has a drill tip with a nose angle (S) that is less than 180, wherein the drill has a lateral surface, on which at least one side blade is formed, which is designed for milling by means of a feeding in a transverse direction (Q) to the longitudinal axis (L), wherein the workpiece has a surface (O), through which a drill hole is drilled, in that in a first step a plane surface is milled into the surface (O) and subsequently in a second step the drill hole is drilled from the plane surface outwards, wherein the plane surface is milled by means of the side blade of the drill in that it is fed forward in a transverse direction (Q) to the longitudinal axis (L), wherein the drill hole is drilled by means of the same drill in that it is fed forward in the direction of the longitudinal axis (L). Further, a corresponding drill is provided.
COMBINATION DRILL, MILL, AND BORING TOOL
Disclosed is a combination tool having a plurality of cutting elements. According to one embodiment, the combination tool comprises a drilling portion, a milling portion, and a boring portion. In this embodiment, the combination tool may perform a drilling operation, a milling operation, and a boring operation in quick succession with a single cutting tool. In another embodiment, the combination tool includes an additional cutting element such as a chamfering portion, which may perform a countersinking operation.

DRILLING TOOL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A DRILLED HOLE
The invention relates to a tool for forming a drilled hole (B), comprising a shank that is rotatable or rotates about a tool axis (A), at least one first portion, which is rotatable or rotates about the tool axis (A), for producing and/or widening a drilled hole (B) by chip cutting, and a second portion, which rotates about the tool axis (A), for widening a drilled hole (B) without chip cutting, wherein the second portion is arranged behind the first portion in a direction of advance (V) of the tool. The invention additionally relates to a method for producing a drilled hole (B).
Orbital drill with left-handed and right-handed flutes
An orbital drill includes a drilling portion, a shank portion, and a neck portion between the drilling portion and the shank portion. The drilling portion includes one or more right-handed spiral flutes with cutting edges having a positive axial rake angle for positive cutting action while orbiting into a material. The right-handed spiral flutes have a positive radial and axial rake angle. The drilling portion also includes one or more left-handed spiral flutes located rearward of the one or more right-handed spiral flutes with cutting edges having a positive axial and radial rake angle for positive cutting action while orbiting back out of the material and removing any material left in the hole, thereby eliminating a separate reaming operation. A method of machining a workpiece using the orbital drill is also disclosed.
Cutting element, tool, and method for producing a helically extending, trapezoidally undercut groove in a cylindrical surface of a bore
A cutting element for a tool to create a helically extending, trapezoidally undercut groove in a cylindrical surface of a bore. The cutting tool, preferably configured as a cutting insert, has groove-cutting teeth to create a symmetrically cross-sectioned groove which are arranged in series in a division harmonized with the pitch of the groove to be created. These groove-cutting teeth comprise at least one pre-machining tooth to create and machine a base groove and several trapezoidal teeth following the at least one pre-machining tooth, which have a tooth head profile which expands trapezoidally in cross-section in the vertical direction of the tooth with two flanks delimiting a flank angle for further machining the base groove to a trapezoidally undercut final cross-section. The flank angle delimited by the two flanks increases from at least one trapezoidal tooth to a following trapezoidal tooth to a defined final dimension.
