CUTTING INSERT AND TOOL FOR MACHINING A WORKPIECE
A cutting insert for a tool for machining a workpiece. The cutting insert comprises a rake face with a chip shaping geometry which is particularly suitable for machining titanium and titanium alloys. The chip shaping geometry is designed in such a way that the chip lifted from the workpiece is deformed comparatively strongly about its longitudinal axis. The chip shaping geometry is arranged at least in a rear area of the rake face, which is laterally bounded by a first concavely curved portion and a second concavely curved portion of the minor cutting edges of the cutting insert. The chip shaping geometry projects upwardly beyond a cutting plane in which the main cutting edge of the cutting insert and two rectilinear portions of the two minor cutting edges are arranged and comprises at least two elevations so that the rake face in the rear area in a further cross-section parallel to the main cutting edge comprises two high points and an intermediate second low point which has an equal third distance from the first concavely curved portion and the second concavely curved portion. A rake angle along the main cutting edge varies such that the rake angle γ1 at a center of the main cutting edge, which has an equal second distance from a first end and a second end of the main cutting edge, is greater than the rake angle in the area of the first and/or second ends.
TOOL HOLDER AND TOOL
A tool holder for a tool for machining a workpiece. The tool holder comprises a cutting insert receptacle for receiving a cutting insert, wherein the cutting insert receptacle comprises an upper clamping jaw for abutting an upper surface of the cutting insert and a lower clamping jaw for abutting a lower surface of the cutting insert opposite the upper surface. Further, the tool holder comprises an internal coolant channel extending inside the tool holder between a coolant inlet opening and a coolant outlet opening, wherein an end portion of the coolant channel extending inside the upper clamping jaw along a channel center axis opens into the coolant outlet opening. The coolant outlet opening is arranged at the upper clamping jaw and configured as an elongated opening. A width of the coolant outlet opening is smaller than a height of the coolant outlet opening measured orthogonally to the width of the coolant outlet opening. The end portion of the coolant channel is also elongated in a cross-section orthogonal to the channel center axis. A width of the end portion measured orthogonal to the channel center axis is smaller than a height of the end portion measured orthogonal to the channel center axis and orthogonal to the width of the end portion.
Blade, tool and method of grooving a metallic workpiece
A grooving blade for chip removing machining includes a cutting insert pocket and a damping arrangement fixed to the blade. The damping arrangement projects laterally with respect to at least one major surface of the blade. A grooving tool and a method of grooving a metallic workpiece are also disclosed.
INSERT ADAPTOR FOR PARTING OFF
An insert adaptor for parting off including an adaptor index axis and parallel adaptor first and second sides connected by an adaptor peripheral surface which extends peripherally around the adaptor. The adaptor peripheral surface is formed with at least three pockets and bearing surfaces extending between the pockets. Each of the pockets comprises resilient upper and lower clamp surfaces.
Modular turning tool having a replaceable adaptor
A turning tool adaptor includes opposite first and second side surfaces and a peripheral surface which extends therebetween. The turning tool adaptor further includes a cutting portion with an insert retaining portion and a clamping portion which extends from the cutting portion. The clamping portion includes a protrusion which extends transversely from the first side surface. The protrusion includes a main abutment surface and spaced apart first and second adaptor clamping bores which open out to the second side surface and also to the main abutment surface. The turning tool adaptor has first, second and third abutment surfaces which are located between the top and bottom surfaces in a side view perpendicular to one of the side surfaces.
DOUBLE-ENDED CUTTING INSERT HAVING MOUNTING PROJECTION WITH INSERT UPPER ABUTMENT AND INSERT STOPPER SURFACES
A cutting tool includes a two-way indexable cutting insert clamped in a transversely oriented insert receiving pocket of an insert holder. The insert holder includes a forwardly located insert mounting portion that includes upper and lower jaws which together define the insert receiving pocket having a pocket front opening. The lower jaw includes a pocket lower clamping surface. The upper jaw includes a pocket upper clamping surface which faces mutually towards the pocket lower clamping surface and a pocket stopper surface facing generally towards the pocket front opening. The pocket stopper surface is closer to the pocket lower clamping surface and further from the pocket front opening, than the pocket upper clamping surface. The pocket stopper surface is further from the pocket rear opening than the pocket lower clamping surface.
CUTTING TOOL HOLDER WITH IMPROVED DAMPENING EFFECT
Cutting tool holders are disclosed that include vibration dampening elements. The vibration dampening elements may extend parallel to a longitudinal plane of the cutting tool holder. The vibration dampening elements allow the cutting tool holders to have a smaller width while still providing higher grooving depth.
Insert holder having transversely oriented insert receiving pocket with upper stopper surface, cutting tool and cutting insert
Cutting tool comprising a cutting element releasably attached to a support member by means of a clamping jaw
The invention relates to a cutting tool, in particular a rotating machining tool, comprising a support member, a cutting element that is releasably clamped to the support member, and a clamping jaw which is located on the support member, can be secured by means of a clamping screw and clamps the cutting element against the support member. According to the invention, a lifting element is provided between the support member and the clamping claw; when the clamping screw is unscrewed, said lifting element lifts the clamping jaw off the cutting element located on the support member.
