LOCKOUT FOR DEEP REACH MACHINING TOOL
A deep reach machining tool provides a swing arm cartridge that pivots relative to the tool body about an axis, an open sensor that indicates that the swing arm cartridge is in an open position with respect to the tool body, and a close sensor that indicates that the swing arm cartridge is in a closed position with respect to the tool body.
CONTROLLING SPRING BACK OF A SHEET OF MATERIAL FOLLOWING MACHINING OPERATIONS
A machining system configured to reduce spring back following machining operations comprising a machining tool and a spring back control system. The spring back control system comprises a number of force generators and a number of force loaded members coupled to the number of force generators, each force loaded member of the number of force loaded members comprising a material contact surface.
SUPPORTING A CONTOURED SHEET OF MATERIAL DURING MACHINING OPERATIONS
A machining support configured to reduce spring back of a sheet following a machining operation on the sheet is presented. The machining support comprises a porous material with a plurality of surfaces including a support surface having a contour configured to contact and support the sheet; sealing material covering each of the plurality of surfaces except the support surface; and a vacuum port configured to provide a vacuum to the porous material.
Drill Bit And Hole Formation Method
Provided are a hole formation method enabling the formation of a high-quality hole even when a workpiece material is a difficult-to-machining metal material or a fiber-reinforced composite material and a drill bit used in the method. A drill bit includes at least one cutting edge and a face (a leading flank and a trailing flank) positioned in the vicinity of the cutting edge, and on the face, a recess exhibiting a prescribed planar shape (groove) is provided. A hole formation method includes a hole formation step of machining a portion to be processed of a workpiece material by means of drilling to form a hole while a lubricant material for assisting machining process is in contact with the portion to be processed, and in the hole formation step, the drill bit is used.
Surface area of fixtures
A method and apparatus. The apparatus comprises a first portion of a tool and a second portion of the tool. The first portion of the tool has a first surface. The first surface has a shape that is complementary to a first portion of a part. The second portion has at least one of a second surface configured to be recessed from a second portion of the part or a hollow portion.
Methods for cutting aligned full size holes
A method for enlarging each one of an initial pair of holes, which includes a first hole, extending through a first component, and a second hole, extending through a second component, includes inserting a pilot member, corresponding to a tolerance of misalignment of the first hole and the second hole of the initial pair of holes, such that pilot member passes through a clearance gap, defined by at least a portion of a boundary of first hole and at least a portion of a boundary of second hole with pilot member having a first central axis. The method also includes cutting a second pair of aligned holes through first and second components, respectively, with a cutter section, which has a second central axis.
FIXTURES FOR WORKING AIRCRAFT COMPONENTS AND METHODS FOR THE SAME
Ribs for working an aircraft component having an aircraft component surface, fixtures for the same, and methods for the same, are provided herein. The rib includes a rib surface configured to receive the aircraft component and to be in abutting contact with at least a portion of the aircraft component surface. The rib further includes an extension extending away from the rib and configured to couple to a worksurface. Orientation of the rib is configured to be adjustable relative to the worksurface for improving working of the aircraft component. The fixture includes a mount defining an aperture and configured to be coupled to the worksurface and the rib. The method includes providing the fixture including the rib. The method further includes coupling the extension to a worksurface. The method further includes disposing the aircraft component on the rib surface.
Drilling machine and method of manufacturing drilled product
According to one implementation, a drilling machine includes at least one drilling structure, a travelling machine, a reader and a controlling device such as a controlling circuit. The at least one drilling structure drills an object to be drilled. The travelling machine positions the at least one drilling structure in a travelling direction of the travelling machine by travelling in a direction different from a drilling direction. The reader reads information recorded on at least one integrated circuit tag attached to at least one drilling plate attached to the object to be drilled. The controlling device controls the travelling machine based on the information read by the reader.
Method and apparatus for acoustic perforation of core sandwich panels
An acoustic perforation method and assembly for forming holes or perforations into a face sheet of a sandwich panel without damaging a honeycomb core thereof. The method may include photographing or otherwise scanning the face sheet bonded to the honeycomb core after cure, then detecting locations of cell walls of the honeycomb core via image processing or analysis of scan data obtained. For example, discolorations on the face sheet or coatings applied thereto may indicate locations of the cell walls of the honeycomb core. A perforation pattern may then be generated or altered based on the detected locations of the cell walls, and a perforation device may be commanded to perforate the face sheet in accordance with the perforation pattern at locations where the cell walls are not located.
DEVICE FOR SECURELY ATTACHING A DRILLING DEVICE TO A DRILL PLATE INCLUDING AN EXPANDABLE COLLET WITH BALLS
A device for securely attaching a drilling device to a drill plate provided with a plurality of positioning bores. The attachment to the drill plate including an expandable collet with balls.
