MULTI-LAYER COATED CUTTING MATERIAL, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME, AND CUTTING TOOL INSERT FOR MECHANICAL MACHINING INCLUDING THE SAME
The present disclosure provides a multilayer coated cutting material having increased wear resistance at high temperatures, a method for manufacturing the same, and a cutting tool insert for mechanical machining including the same. According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, the multilayer coated cutting material includes a cemented carbide, cermet, ceramic, a cubic crystal boron nitride-based material or a hard alloy body of high-speed steel, and a cutting layer positioned on the base material and configured in multiple layers.
SURFACE-COATED CUTTING TOOL AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
This surface-coated cutting tool includes a cutting tool body made of tungsten carbide-based cemented carbide and a hard coating layer deposited on a surface of the cutting tool body, in which the hard coating layer has at least one (Ti.sub.1-xAl.sub.x)N layer (0.4≦X≦0.7, X is an atomic ratio) with an average layer thickness of 0.5 to 10 μm, the (Ti, Al)N layer has a cubic crystal structure, and Ia−Ib<5 is satisfied when Ia (%) is an average absorptance of the hard coating layer at a wavelength of 400 to 500 nm and Ib (%) is an average absorptance of the hard coating layer at a wavelength of 600 to 700 nm.

In a drill, a negative hind is provided on a rake face, and a ridge line at an intersecting position of the negative land and a flank face, a ridge line at an intersecting position of the flank face and a margin, and a ridge line at an intersecting position of the negative land and the margin are convex faces in a longitudinal rectangular cross section. When a curvature radius of the convex face of a first ridge line at the intersecting position of the flank face and the negative land is 1, at curvature radius of the convex face of a second ridge line at the intersecting position of the flank face and the margin is 0.8 to 1.5 times the curvature radius of the first ridge line, and a curvature radius of the convex face of a fourth ridge line at the intersecting position of the negative land and the margin is 1.5 to 3.0 times the curvature radius of the first ridge line.
Cutting tool
A cutting tool comprises a substrate and a coating layer provided on the substrate, the coating layer including a multilayer structure layer composed of a first unit layer and a second unit layer, and a lone layer, the lone layer including cubic Ti.sub.zAl.sub.1-zN crystal grains, an atomic ratio z of Ti in the Ti.sub.zAl.sub.1-zN being 0.55 or more and 0.7 or less, the lone layer having a thickness with an average value of 2.5 nm or more and 10 nm or less, the multilayer structure layer having a thickness with an average value of 10 nm or more and 45 nm or less, one multilayer structure layer and one lone layer forming a repetitive unit having a thickness with an average value of 20 nm to 50 nm, a maximum value of 40 nm to 60 nm, and a minimum value of 10 nm to 30 nm.
Cutting tool
A cutting tool comprises a rake face and a flank face, the cutting tool being composed of a substrate made of a cubic boron nitride sintered material and a coating provided on the substrate, the coating including a MAlN layer, the MAlN layer including crystal grains of M.sub.xAl.sub.1-xN in the cubic crystal system, n.sub.F<n.sub.R being satisfied, where n.sub.F represents a number of voids per 100 μm in length of the MAlN layer on the flank face in a cross section of the MAlN layer, and n.sub.R represents a number of voids per 100 μm in length of the MAlN layer on the rake face in a cross section of the MAlN layer, n.sub.D being 3 or less, where n.sub.D represents a number of droplets per 100 μm in length of the MAlN layer on the flank face in a cross section of the MAlN layer.
Coated cutting tool with h-AlN and Ti1-xAlxCyNz layers
A coated cutting tool includes a substrate of cemented carbide, cermet, ceramics, steel or cubic boron nitride and a multi-layered wear resistant coating. The multi-layered wear resistant coating has a total thickness from 5 to 25 μm and includes refractory coating layers deposited by chemical vapour deposition (CVD) or moderate temperature chemical vapour deposition (MT-CVD). The multi-layered wear resistant coating has at least one pair of layers (a) and (b), with layer (b) being deposited immediately on top of layer (a). Layer (a) is a layer of aluminium nitride having hexagonal crystal structure (h-AlN) and a thickness from 10 nm to 750 nm. Layer (b) is a layer of titanium aluminium nitride or titanium aluminium carbonitride represented by the general formula Ti.sub.1-xAl.sub.xC.sub.yN.sub.z with 0.4≤x≤0.95, 0≤y≤0.10 and 0.85≤z≤1.15, having a thickness from 0.5 μm to 15 μm, and at least 90% of the Ti.sub.1-xAl.sub.xC.sub.yN.sub.z of layer (b) has a face-centered cubic (fcc) crystal structure.
CUTTING TOOL
A cutting tool comprises a rake face and a flank face, the cutting tool being composed of a substrate made of a cubic boron nitride sintered material and a coating provided on the substrate, the coating including a MAlN layer, when a cross section of the MAlN layer is subjected to an electron backscattering diffraction image analysis to determine a crystal orientation of each of the crystal grains of the M.sub.xAl.sub.1−xN and a color map is created based thereon, then on the color map, the flank face having the MAlN layer occupied in area by 45% to 75% by crystal grains of the M.sub.xAl.sub.1−xN having a (111) plane with a normal thereto extending in a direction within 25 degrees with respect to a direction in which a normal to the flank face extends, the MAlN layer having a residual stress of −2 GPa to −0.1 GPa.
COATED CUTTING TOOL
A coated cutting tool comprises a substrate and a coating layer formed on a surface of the substrate, and has a rake face and a flank. The coating layer comprises an alternating laminate structure in which first compound layers containing AlN and second compound layers containing a compound are laminated in an alternating manner, the compound having a composition represented by formula (1) below:
(Ti.sub.1-xAl.sub.x)N (1)
(wherein x satisfies 0.40≤x≤0.70). An average thickness T.sub.1 per first compound layer is 5 nm or more to 160 nm or less, and an average thickness T.sub.2 per second compound layer is 8 nm or more to 200 nm or less. A ratio of T.sub.1 to T.sub.2 is 0.10 or more to 0.80 or less. An average thickness T.sub.3 of the alternating laminate structure is 2.5 μm or more to 7.0 μm or less. A ratio (H/E) of hardness H to elastic modulus E is 0.065 or more to 0.085 or less at the rake face or the flank.
Cutting tool
A cutting tool including a rake face, a flank face, and a cutting edge portion, comprising a substrate and an AlTiN layer, the AlTiN layer including cubic Al.sub.xTi.sub.1-xN crystal grains, A1 having an atomic ratio x of 0.7 or more and less than 0.95, the AlTiN layer including a central portion, the central portion at the rake face being occupied in area by (200) oriented Al.sub.xTi.sub.1-xN crystal grains at a ratio of 50% or more and less than 80%, the central portion at the cutting edge portion being occupied in area by (200) oriented Al.sub.xTi.sub.1-xN crystal grains at a ratio of 80% or more.
CUTTING TOOL
A cutting tool includes: a substrate; a hard layer provided on the substrate; and a titanium carbonitride layer provided on the hard layer, wherein a thickness of the titanium carbonitride layer is more than or equal to 2 μm, a hardness of the titanium carbonitride layer at a room temperature is more than or equal to 35 GPa, and a Young's modulus of the titanium carbonitride layer at the room temperature is more than or equal to 800 GPa.
