Quick-release coupling for drilling and related methods
An apparatus in the form of an adapter for forming a connection comprising a first part adapted for coupling with a second part by a quick-release coupling formed by a first projection of the first part having an at least partial dovetail shape and a recess of the second part having an at least partial dovetail shape. An opening in the recess is adapted for receiving the projection in an axial direction. In other embodiments, the adapter is: (1) frictionally enhanced for engaging an internal portion of the drilling element; (2) includes a radial projection elongated in an axial direction for engaging the internal portion of the one drilling element; and/or (3) has a cutter for scoring an internal portion of the one drilling element upon being inserted therein and rotated. An adapter is also disclosed for use with a drill chuck, including for creating a “twist lock” connection.
Lathe error-correcting collet chuck
An adjustable collet holder for use with a lathe is provided. The adjustable collet holder may include a set of hold down screws to hold it in place once adjusted. Adjustment may be achieved by adjusting multiple set screws to change both angular and concentricity orientations of a collet receiver relative to a body of the collet holder.
Insert holder having insert receiving recess with insert orientation projection and cutting tool
A cutting tool includes a cutting insert resiliently clamped in an insert holder. The insert holder includes a forwardly located insert mounting portion that includes an insert receiving recess which extends along a recess axis. The insert holder includes a fastening member through hole opening out to the insert receiving recess. The insert receiving recess includes an insert orientation projection. The fastening member through hole has a through hole angular extent about the recess axis. The insert orientation projection has an insert orientation projection angular extent about the recess axis. The insert orientation projection angular extent at least partially angularly overlaps the through hole angular extent about the recess axis.
Adapter sleeve and cutting device
An adapter sleeve is described for inserting into an expansion chuck of a cutting device with a substantially cylindrical body that defines a longitudinal axis (L) of the adapter sleeve and a seat area for a cutting tool. The body comprises an axial front end and an axial rear end opposite the front end by means of which the adapter sleeve can be inserted into the expansion chuck of the cutting device. An outlet element is provided at the axial front end through which a coolant can be discharged toward the cutting tool. At least one cooling line extends along the body up to the outlet element and comprises a body line section and an outlet element section. At least one channel-like outlet nozzle is formed in the outlet element and is in fluidic connection with the at least one cooling line. The flow cross-section of the cooling line decreases or remains the same toward the axial front end. In addition, a cutting device is described.
LANCE AND MINIMUM QUANTITY LUBRICATION TOOL HAVING A LANCE
A minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) tool including a lance. The lance includes a passageway and an orifice. The passageway extends axially from a first end of the lance toward a second end of the lance and allows a lubricant supply to flow therein from the first end of the lance toward the second end of the lance. The first orifice extends radially through the lance at a location near the second end of the lance. The lubricant supply flowing through the passageway exits the orifice and is impinged upon by air flowing around the lance.
OPENING/CLOSING CHUCK AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING FINGERS
A finger includes a pair of overhanging portions that project out laterally from a main body portion. Outer peripheral surfaces of the overhanging portions are made up from five surfaces including upper surfaces, side surfaces, lower surfaces, first end surfaces, and second end surfaces. Crowning is applied to the intersections between these surfaces.
Tool holder
A tool holder includes a tubular body having a shank on a first axial end portion, a tool gripping portion on a second axial end portion, and an elastic segment interposed between the shank and the tool gripping portion in the axial direction of the body. The elastic segment is more elastically deformable along the axial direction and around a circumferential direction of the tubular body than the shank and the tool gripping portion owing to a plurality of voids that extend through the elastic segment from an outer peripheral side of the tubular body to an inner peripheral side of the tubular body. Each of the voids includes segments that extend around the circumferential direction and along the axial direction of the tubular body.
DRILL SYSTEMS WITH COOLANT DELIVERY ARRANGEMENTS AND METHODS
There is provided a drill tool assembly for drilling metallic or other materials, comprising a holder having a mounting slot in which a cutting insert is positioned, and a through tool coolant supply system. The drilling tool system allows for the application of coolant to the rake surfaces of the cutting insert in a manner which facilitates enabling higher penetration rates while maintaining integrity of the cutting edges of the cutting insert. The drilling tool system comprises a holder having a rotational axis and mounting slot. A cutting insert with sides positioned adjacent the side surfaces of the mounting slot and cutting edges extending from the rotational axis is mounted in the slot. The insert includes rake surfaces adjacent the cutting edges that are positioned above the mounting slot. At least one coolant channel is disposed with at least one coolant outlet directed at the sides of the insert at a position below the rake surfaces. The coolant outlet is configured to disperse coolant in a curtain across the entire rake face of each cutting edge.
Reducing sleeve, modular system for providing a reducing sleeve assembly, and machining assembly
A reducing sleeve for fastening a machining tool in a tool holder is described. Said reducing sleeve comprises a reducing sleeve body, which comprises a first tool-side end and a second tool holder-side end. In addition, at least one coolant supply channel is provided in the reducing sleeve body. Furthermore, a multifunctional interface is arranged at the second end and is designed for coupling to a sealing unit and a safety unit. Additionally presented is a modular system for providing a reducing sleeve assembly, which comprises such a reducing sleeve, a sealing unit, and a safety unit. In addition, a machining assembly with a tool holder, a reducing sleeve, and a machining tool is presented.
