Rotary tool, particularly a drill, and a cutting head for such a rotary tool

A rotary tool comprising two coupling parts, namely a carrier and a cutting head in a front end surface. The carrier comprises a pin receptacle into which a coupling pin of the cutting head is inserted. In order to prevent pulling-out in an axial direction, stop surfaces are provided on the pin receptacle and on the coupling pin, said stop surfaces being effective in an axial direction. For a design that is as simple as possible, in particular with regard to grinding, each stop surface of the coupling pin is adjoined by a lateral surface which freely tapers off in the direction toward the end surface as viewed in the axial direction. In particular, the lateral surface constitutes a torque surface.

A quick release mechanism includes a male member including a locking pin, a female member including a cavity for receiving the male member, a locking joint on the female member including a longitudinal bore for receiving the male member, a longitudinal slit for receiving the locking pin, and a locking recess for capturing the locking pin, a spring within the cavity for securing the locking pin within the locking recess, and a bearing enabling rotation of the male member within the cavity. The male member engages the female member by guiding the locking pin into the slit and compressing the spring until the locking pin is released from the slit into the cavity. The locking pin is then able to shift into the locking recess by rotating the male member. The spring exerts a force onto the male member to maintain the locking pin within the locking recess.

Tool head for rotary cutting tool and rotary cutting tool including same

The coupling part, in particular cutting head for a drilling tool for the interchangeable fastening in a coupling receptacle, has a coupling pin which is enclosed by a head support surface, wherein the coupling pin has a plurality of types of functional surfaces, namely stop surfaces for transmitting a torque between the cutting head and the carrier, and clamping surfaces for centering and clamping the cutting head in the coupling receptacle. The coupling pin has an axially front pin region and an adjoining, axially rear pin region, and the clamping surfaces and the stop surfaces are arranged in different pin regions. This decoupling and distribution of the functional surfaces to the various pin regions permits simpler production of the coupling pin and an overall more robust configuration.
