A tool includes a cutting insert with a shank, which extends along a cutting insert longitudinal axis, and with at least one cutting edge, wherein at least a part of the cutting insert is a first material and further includes a tool holder which extends along a holder longitudinal axis and includes on an end-face end a cutting insert receptacle for receiving the cutting insert shank, wherein the cutting insert receptacle is a cup-shaped recess. The tool further includes an attachment element which is connected to the cutting insert and extends in a circumferential direction around the cutting insert shank, wherein at least a part of the attachment element is a second, different material. The tool also includes a fastening element for fastening the cutting insert on the tool holder, wherein, in a mounted state, the fastening element contacts the attachment element to fasten the cutting insert on the tool holder.

Composite diamond body and composite diamond tool

A composite diamond body includes a diamond base material and a stable layer disposed on the diamond base material. The stable layer may have a thickness of 0.001 m or more and less than 10 m, and may include a plurality of layers. A composite diamond tool includes the composite diamond body. There are thus provided highly wear-resistant composite diamond body and composite diamond tool that are even applicable to mirror-finish planarization of a workpiece which reacts with diamond to cause the diamond to wear.

The first chamfer is inclined relative to the main surface so as to increase a thickness of the cutting edge member as the first chamfer is closer to the main surface.

In a general aspect, a machining tool includes a diamond crystal having a working section configured to machine a workpiece. The machining tool includes a body and a shank extending from the body. The shank defines a cylindrical slot outside the body. The machining tool includes an assembly carried by the shank. The assembly includes a cylindrical pin that resides in the cylindrical slot. The assembly also includes a diamond crystal secured to an end of the cylindrical pin. The diamond crystal has a curved perimeter that defines a working section, which contacts a workpiece during operation of the machining tool. The shank is adapted to allow rotation of the cylindrical pin within the cylindrical slot to modify the working section.
