Ejector drill system
A drilling head for a tubular shank having an inside diameter and threads may comprise an axial body comprising a duct exiting through a first end; threads adjacent the first end corresponding to the threads on the shank and aligning the duct with the shank inside diameter; a bore from an outer surface of the body to the duct; and two axially extending approximately parallel and offset surfaces adjacent a second end; and an insert affixed between the offset surfaces, the insert comprising: a first face at least partially contacting one offset surface and a second face at least partially contacting the other offset surface; one or more cutting edges adjacent the first face, the second face, or both; and a cutting lip adjacent one or more cutting edges.
Twist drill tips, precursor constructions for use in making same, and methods for making and using same
A tip for twist drill, comprising a super-hard structure joined to a substrate at an interface boundary coterminous with an end of the substrate, the super-hard structure comprising sintered polycrystalline material comprising super-hard grains, the super-hard structure defining a super-hard end surface opposite the interface boundary and a plurality of cutting edges configured for boring into a body in use; the super-hard end surface including a center point or chisel edge, and comprising a plurality of surface regions configured such that respective planes tangential to each of the surface regions are disposed at substantially different angles from the axis of rotation of the tip in use. Precursor constructions for use in manufacturing the tips as well as methods for making the precursor constructions and the tips are disclosed.
TOOL HEAD FOR A MODULAR SHANK TOOL
A tool head for use with a modular shank tool includes at least two preforms. Each preform of the at least two preforms is made separately from the other preform of the at least two preforms from granular materials and then put together and jointly compressed and integrally bonded.
Method for manufacturing disposable rotary cutting tools and disposable rotary tool for dental or medical applications
The shank (12) of a disposable rotary cutting tool (10) comprises a pipe section (16) cut from a drawn metal pipe. The tool head (14) is formed from a cut-out (18a, 18b) of a drawn metal sheet or a section of a metal tube by non-cutting machining. The pipe section (16) and the tool head (14) are advantageously attached by force fitting.
Drilling system for deep holes
The invention is directed to a drill system that better uses the power curve of modern machine tools. The drill system uses IC inserts to perform the major hole diameter cutting, and a central drilling system that cuts the remaining minor diameter portion of the hole, and is configured to see less cutting surface footage, due to its position from the rotating center of the tool. A connection between the drill head and a holder body secures the drill head in a manner to effectively absorb lateral drilling forces. The drill system allows for a large diameter deep hole that remains straight throughout to be drilled at higher speed and lighter feed rates thus offering a more productive tool that takes advantage of the power curves and lower thrust capabilities of modern machine tools.
Modular drill
A drill has a replaceable cutting head mounted to a shank in an interlocking fashion. The shank has a pocket with at least one flat, vertically-angled retention surface located closer to a rotational axis than at least one driving surface. Similarly, the cutting head has at least one vertically-angled retention surface located closer to the rotational axis of the drill than at least one driven surface. As a result of the relative locations between the surfaces with respect to the rotational axis, the stresses and fatigue imposed on the drill are minimized, thereby prolonging tool life.
Accessory tool
An accessory tool includes an adapter end, and a shank coupled to the adapter end and including a first length. The shank includes a tool engagement portion, and a first reduced portion disposed between the tool engagement portion and the adapter end. The first reduced portion has a second length. The shank additionally includes a second reduced portion formed in the tool engagement portion between the first reduced portion and an end of the shank. The second length is 2.5% to 15% of a total length of the accessory tool.
Mandrel Assembly for Electric Tool and Electric Tool Having Same
A mandrel assembly includes a mandrel, adapter, and bit coupler. The mandrel includes a shank part axially disposed in the mandrel, an adapter receiver, and a coupler receiver. An internal hole runs axially through the adapter. The coupler includes first and second axial sections, and an axial bit connection hole with a polygonal section proximate to an inner side, and a cylindrical section proximate to an opening. An outer wall of the adapter fits with an inner wall of the adapter receiver. An outer wall of the first section fits with an inner wall of the coupler receiver. An outer wall of the second coupler fits with the internal hole of the adapter. The mandrel transmits torque, via the adapter receiver and coupler receiver, to the adapter and then to a hole saw coupled to the adapter, and to the coupler and then to a bit coupled to the coupler.
HOLE SAW ARBOR ASSEMBLY
A cutting tool includes a hole saw, a pilot bit, and an arbor assembly. The assembly includes a shank having a first end and a second end. The first end of the shank is removably coupled to the hole saw and to the pilot bit, and the second end of the shank is configured to be coupled to a power tool. The assembly also includes a sleeve moveable along the shank and a first ball bearing disposed on the sleeve. The first ball bearing engages the hole saw to releasably secure the hole saw to the shank. The assembly includes a second ball bearing disposed on the shank. The second ball bearing engages the pilot bit to releasably secure the pilot bit to the shank. When the sleeve moves toward the second end of the shank, the first and second ball bearings disengage the hole saw and the pilot bit.
Cutting tool
A cutting tool including a body, a blade, a feed shaft, and a locking member. The body defines an axis and is adapted to be received by a spindle of a power tool. The blade is removably supportable on the body and rotatable about the axis for cutting a workpiece. A feed shaft is removably supportable in the body and rotatable about the axis for engaging a workpiece, the feed shaft being mountable in the cutting tool to engage and at least partially restrain the blade. The feed shaft further includes an opening transverse to the axis. The locking member is engageable with the body and with the opening in the feed shaft. Advancement of the locking member into the opening tightens both the blade and the feed shaft to the body.
