Method for manufacturing disposable rotary cutting tools and disposable rotary tool for dental or medical applications
The shank (12) of a disposable rotary cutting tool (10) comprises a pipe section (16) cut from a drawn metal pipe. The tool head (14) is formed from a cut-out (18a, 18b) of a drawn metal sheet or a section of a metal tube by non-cutting machining. The pipe section (16) and the tool head (14) are advantageously attached by force fitting.
Hard-material threaded connection
A hard-material threaded connection includes a structural part, which has a hard material and a first threaded portion formed in the hard material, and a component having higher elasticity that has a second threaded portion cooperating with the first threaded portion. The first threaded portion and the second threaded portion have a different thread pitch.
Rotatable cutting head having torque transmission surfaces on a mounting protuberance and rotary cutting tool
A cutting head rotatable about a head axis has a cap portion and a mounting protuberance joined thereto. The cap portion has N cutting portions circumferentially alternating with N head flutes. The mounting protuberance has N circumferentially spaced apart engagement portions, each including a radially outward facing clamping surface and a torque transmission surface. In a cross-section taken in a head plane perpendicular to the head axis, a first imaginary circle having a first diameter circumscribes the N clamping surfaces, and N radially outermost torque points of the N torque transmission surfaces define a second imaginary circle having a second diameter. The second diameter is greater than ninety percent of the first diameter. A rotary cutting tool includes a tool shank extending along a shank axis and a head receiving pocket at a forward end thereof, and the cutting head is releasably secured in the head receiving pocket.
Rotary drill tool with insert centring surfaces
A cutting insert for a rotary drill tool and a drill tool assembly in which an insert and a support body are coupled via cooperative contact surfaces and a mounting screw. The contact surfaces provide a dual function to axially and rotationally lock the insert at the support body in addition to providing a centring function of the insert.
Multifunction drill bit with a replaceable tip
A multifunction drill bit includes an outer shank including an outer lock head, an outer shank body, and an axial hole wherein spiral grooves are on the outer shank body; from a joining portion of the outer shank body and the outer lock head to the outer lock head, a threaded section, a deformable section, and a guide section are provided; each of the threaded and deformable sections include first external threads; the deformable section has outer curved grooves; a deformable concave surface is on an inner surface of the deformable section; and first internal threads are on the guide section; and an inner shank in the axial hole and including a top socket, an inner lock head, and an inner shank body. Second external threads are on an inner surface of the guide section corresponding to the first internal threads. A tip of the drill bit is replaceable.
RING-SAW ASSEMBLIES AND PROCESSES
Hole-saws are provided herein, and more specifically to hole-saw assemblies and processes having adjustable platters for multiple simultaneous saw components, optional elimination of a guide drill, and the ability to retrieve cores of a sawed work piece before sawing completely through the workpiece. One hole-saw device, may have a motive force; a base plate rotatable by the motive force; cutters; and locking mechanisms to mount the base plate to the cutters.
Side-lock modular drill with spring-assisted bump-off
A rotary cutting tool with a shank and an interchangeable cutting tip, wherein the shank includes a pocket which receives the interchangeable cutting tip via an interference fit. The pocket includes two centering wall portions which, when viewed along a central longitudinal axis, are oriented at a first angle with respect to one another, the first angle being greater than zero. The interchangeable cutting tip is axially displaceable between: an initial position, assumed upon being received in the pocket of the shank; a clamped position, wherein the interchangeable cutting tip is fixedly held with respect to the shank; and a bump-off position, wherein the interchangeable cutting tip is not fixedly held. A holding element holds the interchangeable cutting tip in the clamped position, and a spring assembly which displaces the interchangeable cutting tip between the clamped position and the bump-off position. Other variants and embodiments are broadly contemplated herein.
Cutting tool and method for manufacturing machined product
A drill may be extended from a first end to a second end and may include a cutting part. The cutting part may include a cutting edge, a flute, an end surface and a connection surface. The flute may be extended from the cutting edge toward the second end. The end surface may be located closer to the second end than the flute. The connection surface may be located between the flute and the end surface. The connection surface may include a first portion, and a second portion located closer to an outer periphery of the cutting part than the first portion. A length in the direction along the rotation axis on the second portion may be smaller than a length in the direction along the rotation axis on the first portion in a side view orthogonal to the rotation axis.
Replaceable cutting head having back-tapered conical external thread and rotary cutting tool
A rotary cutting tool includes a replaceable cutting head and a tool holder. The replaceable cutting head includes a forward cutting portion and a rearward mounting portion. The mounting portion includes a male coupling member that includes a back-tapered conical external thread. The tool holder includes a female coupling member that includes an internal thread. When the rotary cutting tool is in a locked position, the external thread is threadingly engaged with the internal thread.
