20180250755 · 2018-09-06 · ·

A twist drill having a shaft with a longitudinal axis, wherein the cutting tool includes a plurality of flutes extending about the longitudinal shaft along a helix angle and a plurality of lands adjacent the flutes. Each land has a cutting edge adjacent a corresponding flute and a margin (i.e. relief surface). A cutting point is adjacent a forward end of the shaft. A first, second and third forward cutting surfaces are adjacent the first, second and third cutting edges, respectively, and extend proximate the cutting point axially rearward for a predetermined length about the longitudinal axis of the shaft. The cutting edges are unequally angularly spaced from each other, and each forward cutting surface has a primary relief angle that are unequal to each other.

The drill of the present invention includes: a drill main body; a chip discharge flute extending from a tip flank face of the drill main body toward a rear end side of the drill main body and formed on an outer circumference of a tip part of the drill main body; a margin formed at an opposite side of the chip discharge flute in the drill rotation direction; and a body clearance formed at an opposite side of the margin in the drill rotation direction and having an outer diameter smaller than that of the margin. A surface roughness of the body clearance at least along a circumferential direction is equal to or less than a surface roughness of the margin.

DRILL

A drill has a thinning rake face formed in the front end. An intersection ridgeline between the thinning rake face and the tip flank face is the thinning edge. On the opposite side of the rotation direction, the first and second thinning wall surfaces (6b, 6c) and are formed. Viewed from the front, an intersection angle between the thinning edge (4a) and the first thinning ridgeline is larger than 95. The second thinning ridgeline (L2) is bent to the opposite side of the rotation direction. The thinning edge and the first thinning ridgeline are connected via a concave curve line. The first and second thinning wall surfaces are connected via a concave surface, and a curvature radius of the concave curve line is smaller than a curvature radius of the concave surface.

Drill bit

A drill bit configured for use with a rotary power tool including a chuck. The drill bit includes a shank including a first end and a second end, and a paddle that extends from the second end of the shank. The paddle includes a first face including a concave portion, a second face opposite the first face and the second face including a convex portion opposite the concave portion, a cutting surface, a cutting edge located at an end of the cutting surface, a relief angle defined by the cutting surface, and an angled rake face adjacent the cutting surface that defines a rake angle that is between about 5 degrees and about 45 degrees.

DRILL AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING MACHINED PRODUCT

In an embodiment, a drill has an elongated shape and a rotation axis. The drill includes a drilling portion, a shank portion, and a tapered portion. The shank portion includes a first helical flute and a first cutting edge. The tapered portion is located between the drilling portion and the shank portion. The tapered portion includes a second helical flute, a second cutting edge, a chamfered part, and a connection part. The chamfered part is getting smaller gradually as moving toward the first end side. The connection part has a curved surface and connects the second cutting edge and the drilling portion. A ratio of w/L is 0.0015-0.5 where L is a length of the second cutting edge in a front view of the first end, and w is a width of an outer peripheral end of the chamfered part in a direction parallel to the rotation axis.

EXTERNAL DEBURRING TOOL

A deburring tool includes a deburring head and a shaft portion connected to the deburring head. The deburring head includes a conical hollow body, a primary cutting edge and a secondary cutting edge both formed on the conical hollow body. The conical hollow body has at least one flute extending between interior and exterior conical surfaces of the conical hollow body, and at least one recessed cutout defined in the interior conical surface. The primary cutting edge is formed at a junction of a wall surface of the flute and a bottom surface of the recessed cutout. The secondary cutting edge is formed at a junction of a wall surface of the recessed cutout and the interior conical surface.

Drill and drilling method for workpiece

A drill includes a cutting edge. The cutting edge has a point angle which is continuously decreased from a center-position point angle A (herein, 0<A<180) at a center position to a maximum-diameter-position point angle of 0 at a maximum diameter position. The cutting edge has a relief angle which is continuously decreased from the center position to the maximum diameter position. The cutting edge of the drill has a relief angle at the maximum diameter position. Hence, the cutting edge also serves as a cutting edge for reaming. The ridgeline and relief face of the cutting edge have no corner, thereby providing good wear resistance.

Twist drill tips, precursor constructions for use in making same, and methods for making and using same

A tip for twist drill, comprising a super-hard structure joined to a substrate at an interface boundary coterminous with an end of the substrate, the super-hard structure comprising sintered polycrystalline material comprising super-hard grains, the super-hard structure defining a super-hard end surface opposite the interface boundary and a plurality of cutting edges configured for boring into a body in use; the super-hard end surface including a center point or chisel edge, and comprising a plurality of surface regions configured such that respective planes tangential to each of the surface regions are disposed at substantially different angles from the axis of rotation of the tip in use. Precursor constructions for use in manufacturing the tips as well as methods for making the precursor constructions and the tips are disclosed.

Combination tool as well as drills for such a drilling/chamfering tool

The combination tool (2), in particular a drilling/chamfering tool, comprises a drill (6) extending in the longitudinal direction (4) with a clamping sleeve (8), which is designed to receive the drill (6) and fasten the drill (6) at a variable length and which has a holding seat (38) for a cutting insert (12). The drill (6) comprises a cutting region (22) provided with grooves (14), wherein the grooves (14) extend helically and are formed between two grooves (14) drill backs (18). At least one of the drill backs (18) is partially flattened to form an adjustment surface (16) for the cutting insert (12), wherein the adjustment surface (16) extends helically. As a result, a length adjustment over a large length range is made possible independently of the twist angle ().
