Drilling system and modular drilling head for deep hole drilling
A drilling system and methods provide stability and cutting performance to produce holes having desired straightness and other characteristics. The system may include a cutting head provided with a central cutting system and first and second side cutting inserts. The tool provides a major diameter with the OD cutting margins on the replaceable side inserts, as well as possibly cutting margins on the center cutting member. Adjustment mechanisms may be provided to adjust the center cutting member and/side cutting inserts.
DRILLING TOOL
A drilling tool comprising a tool holder that extends along a central axis and comprises a first cutting insert receptacle having a first abutment surface oriented parallel to the central axis. The drilling tool further comprises a first cutting insert that is fixed in the first cutting insert receptacle and abuts with one of its sides against the first abutment surface, wherein an axial portion of the first cutting insert projects axially beyond an end face end of the tool holder, and wherein the first cutting insert comprises in the axial portion a first main cutting edge that is inclined with respect to a first imaginary plane, which is oriented orthogonally to the central axis and arranged at the end face end of the tool holder, so that a radially outer end of the first main cutting edge is spaced a larger distance from the first imaginary plane than a radially inner end of the first main cutting edge and the first main cutting edge does not intersect the first imaginary plane, and wherein the first main cutting edge touches or intersects a second imaginary plane that is spanned by the central axis and oriented orthogonally to the first abutment surface.
Cutting tool
Cutting tool for the rotary machining of workpieces, in particular a twist drill, with a cutting tip which has at least one main cutting edge and at least one free surface (24), wherein a flank face adjoins the main cutting edge radially to the outside, and wherein a flank angle of the flank face increases in a radially outward direction.
DRILLS AND DRILL BITS WITH BUTTRESSED CHIP BREAKERS
Drilling tools and/or drill bits having notches with buttressed regions and/or notches therewithin to improve notch strength. In some embodiments, the drill/drill bit may comprise a shank comprising a cutting face, the cutting face terminating in a cutting edge. A notch may be formed along the cutting edge, which may be configured to separate chips formed by the drilling tool during operation. A buttressed region may be formed within the notch and may terminate along the cutting edge. The buttressed region may expand a size of the notch in one or more dimensions.
Drill bit, such as an auger drill bit, and method therefore
A drill bit includes an elongated shaft having an outer surface forming plural lands and spaces between the lands forming a helical flute; a shank located at a first end of the elongated shaft, the shank configured and arranged to engage the drill bit in a tool; a head located at an opposing end of the elongated shaft from the shank, the head including a first cutting arm and a second cutting arm, the first cutting arm including a first cutting portion having a first leading cutting edge, the second cutting arm including a second cutting portion having a second leading cutting edge; and wherein the first cutting arm includes a first groove extending through the first leading cutting edge and the second arm includes a second groove extending through the second leading cutting, the first and second grooves configured to cause shorter fibers, shavings or chips.
Drill and method for producing a drill
The invention relates to a drill comprising a body which extends along a longitudinal axis (L) from a rear side (B) to a front side (F), wherein the body comprises a main cutting edge on the front side (F), wherein the body comprises at least one guide bevel which extends in axial direction (A) and toward the front side (F), wherein, toward the front side (F), the guide bevel has an end section which is tapered. The invention further relates to a method for producing such a drill.
DRILL AND METHOD OF PRODUCING DRILLED PRODUCT
According to one implementation, a drill includes the first cutting edges, the second cutting edges and a deflection reducer. The first cutting edges drill a prepared hole to a workpiece. The first cutting edges are formed in a tip side of the drill. The first point angle and each first relief angle of the first cutting edges continuously or intermittently decrease from the tip side toward a rear end side of the drill. The second cutting edges ream the prepared hole. The second cutting edges are formed at positions away in the rear end side from the first cutting edges. The second cutting edges have the second relief angles at a maximum diameter position. The deflection reducer reduces deflection of the second cutting edges. The deflection reducer is formed between the first cutting edges and the second cutting edges. The deflection reducer is inserted into the prepared hole.
DRILL TIP AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A DRILL TIP
The invention relates to a drill tip (2), comprising a center (4), at which a chisel edge (6) is arranged, and comprising a main cutting edge (8), which adjoins the chisel edge (6) and runs outward from the center (4). A rake angle is formed along the chisel edge (6) and the main cutting edge (8). The main cutting edge (8) has an inner portion (10), which adjoins the chisel edge (6) and is arranged within the center (4). The main cutting edge (8) has an outer portion (12), which outwardly adjoins the inner portion (10) and is arranged outside of the center (4). A point thinning (16) is formed on the drill tip (2), which point thinning is curved in such a way that the inner portion (10) runs arcuately from an outer edge of the center (4) toward the chisel edge (6). The invention further relates to a method for producing a drill tip (2) of this type.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DEBURRING A TUBULAR WORKPIECE
An apparatus for selectively removing material from both an inner and outer circumference of an end of a tubular workpiece includes a cylindrical outer frame. A blade holder is affixed to the outer frame. The blade holder has a conical configuration with a base located adjacent a first rim of the outer frame and an apex located adjacent a second rim of the outer frame. At least one ID blade is carried by the blade holder and has an ID cutting edge oriented radially outward. At least one OD blade is carried by the blade holder and has an OD cutting edge oriented radially inward. A motive cap has a rim-coupling feature configured for selective engagement sequentially with the first and second rims of the outer frame, to selectively provide rotational motion to the outer frame and thus indirectly to the blade holder.
