The flute may be extended from the cutting edge toward the second end. The end surface may be located closer to the second end than the flute. The connection surface may be located between the flute and the end surface. The connection surface may include a first portion, and a second portion located closer to an outer periphery of the cutting part than the first portion. A length in the direction along the rotation axis on the second portion may be smaller than a length in the direction along the rotation axis on the first portion in a side view orthogonal to the rotation axis.

Cutting tool comprising a cutting element releasably attached to a support member by means of a clamping jaw

The invention relates to a cutting tool, in particular a rotating machining tool, comprising a support member, a cutting element that is releasably clamped to the support member, and a clamping jaw which is located on the support member, can be secured by means of a clamping screw and clamps the cutting element against the support member. According to the invention, a lifting element is provided between the support member and the clamping claw; when the clamping screw is unscrewed, said lifting element lifts the clamping jaw off the cutting element located on the support member.

Modular rotary cutting tool

A modular rotary cutting tool includes a cutting head for insertion into a support. The cutting head has a coupling pin having torque surfaces and clamping surfaces formed on its outer peripheral surface. The coupling pin is divided into a front pin part and a rear pin part. The front pin part is defined by a circumferential groove. Stop surfaces for an axial pullout prevention are formed between the front pin part and the rear pin part. The torque surfaces and the clamping surfaces are arranged in different pin parts. For example, the clamping surfaces are preferably formed on the front pin part and the torque surfaces are preferably formed on the rear pin part. The clamping surfaces taper radially inward in a direction of the front cutting part at an angle of inclination, 2, with respect to the axis of rotation. Other variants and embodiments are broadly contemplated herein.

ROTARY CUTTING TOOL WITH INTERNAL COOLANT PASSAGE

A rotary cutting tool includes a replaceable cutting insert, a pocket portion for holding the cutting insert, and a chip flute portion having a plurality of helical flutes. An internal coolant passage is formed in the chip flute portion and has both a twisted geometry and a see-through central portion. The internal coolant passage is polygonal in cross-sectional shape having a number of cusps equal to the number of flutes. The internal coolant passage greatly increases coolant flow area, while maintaining the stiffness and rigidity of the cutting tool. A method includes forming the internal coolant passage using additive manufacturing such that the internal coolant passage has a see-through central portion and a twisted geometry.

CUTTING INSERT FOR DRILLING

A cutting insert for drilling includes an upper surface, a lower surface formed on an opposite side of the upper surface, a side surface connecting the upper surface and the lower surface; a cutting edge formed at an intersection of the upper surface and the side surface, and a ridge portion formed to protrude upward from the upper surface to facilitate chip control. The ridge portion includes a ridge body spaced apart from the cutting edge and disposed at a central portion of the cutting insert for drilling; and a ridge extension portion extending from a vicinity of a corner of the ridge body in a direction parallel to the cutting edge.

STEP DRILL BIT

A drill bit includes a shank and a body portion defining a plurality of axially stacked, progressively sized steps. The steps include a first step and a terminal step. The first step defines two tip flutes each disposed at a tip flute angle. The body portion defines a body flute extending through the steps. The drill bit also includes an indicator band formed on a portion of the body flute and a portion of an outer surface of one of the plurality of steps.

A cutting head rotatable about a head axis, has a cap portion and a mounting protuberance joined thereto and extending axially rearwardly therefrom. The mounting protuberance has a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart torque portions axially offset from a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart clamping portions. The clamping portions have clamping surfaces circumscribed by an imaginary clamping circle with a clamping diameter. The torque portions have torque protrusions and torque cut-outs, each torque protrusion having a torque transmission surface at least partially located outside an imaginary clamping cylinder defined by the imaginary clamping circle, and each torque cut-out having a recessed surface located inside the imaginary clamping cylinder. The cutting head is releasably secured to a head receiving pocket of a tool shank, with each clamping surface contacting a corresponding abutment surface of the pocket, and each torque transmission surface contacting a corresponding drive surface of the pocket.

According to one implementation, a drill includes: a body without a back taper and a cutting edge part. The body has a flow path of a cutting oil. The flow path is branched to first and second flow paths inside the body. The cutting edge part has a first supply port that supplies the cutting oil toward a workpiece. The first supply port is an outlet of the first flow path. The body has a second supply port that supplies the cutting oil to a clearance between the body and a bush for positioning the body. The second supply port is an outlet of the second flow path. The second flow path has a pressure loss by which the cutting oil is not scattered from the second supply port in a radial direction of the body but exuded from the second supply port.
