The present invention is generally directed to systems related to sleeping, playing and provision of non-toxic environments, components related to those systems, and methods involving the systems or components. It is more particularly directed to systems, components and methods that aid early infant cognitive development, improve ventilation inside a crib, promote fresh and/or odor free air, promote thermoregulation and homeostasis, protect the person using the systems, components and methods from biological toxins, and create healthy sleeping environments for infants, toddlers, children and adults. One sleep system according to the present invention includes a cover, a core, and a bottom. The cover includes at least two raised areas. The raised areas have one or more heights ranging from 0.125 inch to 5.0 inches and diameters ranging of 0.25 to 10.0 inches.

An infection control bedding product such as a pillow, duvet, mattress, cushion or such like having a sealed cover, a resiliently deformable filling material, and a vent means in the cover, the vent means including a filter medium including a filter membrane for the removal of particles of microbial size, a strengthening layer of material for providing mechanical strength to the filter medium, and an adhesive layer, wherein the filter medium allows air flow therethrough but is substantially impermeable to liquid while maintaining a barrier to particles of microbial size; optionally, wherein the adhesive layer is formed from a plurality of dots of adhesive applied to the strengthening layer.

The HD foam contains functional additives. Further provided in the stretchable hygienic cover is an elastic opening allowing the fabric to stretchably fit over an existing variable geometry vehicle headrest, wherein the elastic opening may stretch and retract in size to grip on to an existing variable geometry vehicle headrest. Described is a rollup evacuation sled that includes a bottom sheet, a foam mattress disposed above the bottom sheet, and a support sheet disposed above the mattress. A margin stack including the bottom sheet and the support sheet forms a sandwiched margin left side and a sandwiched margin right side. The sled may further include a plurality of spinal boards disposed between the bottom sheet and the mattress in the upper section of the bottom sheet. Wheel assemblies are mounted on each spinal board. The sled further includes a foot pouch coupled to the sandwiched margin left and right sides and dimensioned to substantially enclose feet and calves of a person lying on the support sheet. The foot pouch is configured to store a stack including the bottom sheet, mattress and the support sheet, when the stack is rolled up along a longitudinal direction from the head end.

A fire-retardant and antimicrobial rayon fiber includes a preservative, e.g., zinc pyrithione, as an antimicrobial agent. The present invention is further directed to a yarn that includes the fire-retardant and antimicrobial rayon fiber. The yarn may be a sheath-and-core yarn where the fire-retardant and antimicrobial rayon fiber is incorporated into the sheath, and the core is formed from fiberglass or any other suitable material. The present invention is further directed to a fabric formed from the fire-retardant and antimicrobial rayon fiber, such as a nonwoven fabric, a knit fabric, or a woven fabric. Moreover, the present invention is further directed to an article such as one or more layers of a mattress or bedding formed from the fire-retardant and antimicrobial rayon fiber.

A method of preventing infestation of a bed by creeping insects; said method including the application of a barrier to the legs of said bed; said barrier comprising a disc or layer of material inimical to at least a selection of said creeping insects; said disc or layer interposed between an upper end of each bed leg and the underside surface of a bed base of said bed.

A self-sanitizing chair is shown and described. The chair may comprise a seating surface, legs, arm rest, head rest, and a sanitizing system. The latter may include a UV light source and a sanitizing fluid dispensing system. UV light and sanitizing fluid are applied to surfaces of the chair contacted by a human user. Indicating lights indicate when sanitizing is being performed, when sanitizing fluid is drying, and when the chair is ready for the next user. A control circuit operates the indicating lights and includes an occupant sensor. Sanitizing is inhibited in the presence of an occupant and commenced when the occupant has left the chair.

A chair for particular use in clinical or hospital environments has a frame to which a support material is secured. The support material may form a chair back and/or a seat for the chair to provide support to the chair occupant. The support material may be made from a textile that includes copper containing particles such as copper iodide or copper oxide within the textile fibers.
