The remote control includes a mode control switch having three position states including an R side position, a middle position and an L side position, and being operably slidable in one of the three position states; a monitoring unit configured to detect the position state of the mode control switch; and a control unit coupled to the monitoring unit and configured to receive the position state of the mode control switch, determine a control mode of the adjustable bed accordingly, and send a matching instruction to one or both of the first and second controllers of the first and second bed units based on the determined control mode so as to establish a matching connection of the remote control with said one or both of the first and second controllers.
