A clamping device for releasably holding a tool holder shank includes a housing and a drawbar mounted reciprocally inside a bore of the housing and which in a forward end includes an engagement means, which is arranged to engage an engagement formation located at the end of the tool holder shank and in a rear portion is formed with a drawbar aperture. The clamping device further includes a clamping mechanism extending through the drawbar aperture, which is to impart an axial displacement of the drawbar to and fro in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the housing. The clamping mechanism includes a first and a second actuator and an actuator bolt interconnecting the actuators, extending through the drawbar aperture and arranged such that a rotation of the actuator bolt causes the actuators to move synchronously towards or apart from one another, imparting an axial movement of the drawbar.

A modular cutting tool includes a cutting head, a shank and a mechanism which assists in assembling and locks the cutting head to the shank. The cutting head includes a cutting portion rotatable about a central longitudinal axis and a cylindrical skirt extending axially from the cutting portion and terminating at a contact face disposed perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The skirt has a number of curved inner surfaces which generally define a bore disposed about the longitudinal axis. The shank includes a cylindrical portion of a first diameter disposed about the central longitudinal axis and a central protrusion disposed in the bore of the cutting portion. The central protrusion has a second diameter less than the first diameter and extends longitudinally from a contact face disposed perpendicular to the longitudinal axis at a leading end of the cylindrical portion.

A stair form member attached jaw is installed with the stair form member provided at the bottom face of the soft jaw. The stair form member is held between a pair of grips in the jaw installing groove of the master jaw from both sides of the radial direction, thereby pulling the stair form member to the bottom direction of the jaw installing groove. The position of the radial direction of the soft jaw is determined by the engagement between the bottom face of the soft jaw and the upper serration faces of the master jaw; and the position of the soft jaw in the tangent line is determined by the close contact of the stair form member to the side face of the jaw installing groove.
