Locking drill bushing

A drill bushing for a drill unit. In one embodiment, the drill bushing includes a base member having an upper surface, a lower surface configured to rest on a workpiece having a pilot hole, and a retaining member that projects from the lower surface of the base member. The retaining member has a cylindrical outer diameter that fits within the pilot hole. The drill bushing further includes a drill hole that passes from the upper surface of the base member through the retaining member to provide a passage for a drill bit. The drill bushing further includes an expandable slit that passes through the base member and the retaining member to the drill hole, and an adjustment member configured to expand the expandable slit to increase the cylindrical outer diameter of the retaining member within the pilot hole.

SLIDING ADJUSTABLE TOGGLE CLAMP

A tool including a pair of rails is attachable to the inside surface of the skin panel. A housing is pivotally and slidably connected between the pair of rails. The housing is pivotable about a first axis and is slidable along grooves in the pair of rails. The housing has a first end and a second end opposite each other. The tool includes a rod having a third end and a fourth end, the third end attached to and extending from the first end of the housing. The tool also includes a pressure foot attached to the fourth end of the housing. The pressure foot includes a curved ankle integrally formed with a flat flange, the curved ankle curving into the flat flange. The pressure foot is configured to apply pressure along a portion of the inside surface of the skin panel when the housing is in a vertical position.

System for forming perforations in a barrel section

A drilling system may include a plurality of robotic drilling units. Each one of the robotic drilling units may include a drill end effector positioned inside a barrel section. The barrel section may be configured as a composite sandwich structure having an inner face sheet. The robotic drilling units maybe operable in synchronized movement with one another to drill a plurality of perforations into the inner face sheet using the drill end effectors in a manner providing a predetermined percent-open-area of the inner face sheet.

An I.D. collet has a housing with a hollow bore and an undercut portion; a taper screw slidable into and out of the hollow bore of the housing and having a conical head; a spindle having a hollow bore in alignment with the hollow bore of the housing for receiving the conical head of the taper screw into and out of the hollow bore of the spindle such that the conical head enlarges the diameter of the spindle; and a draw nut assembly threadably connected to the taper screw and having tangs abutting the undercut portion of the housing when the spindle reaches a preset location in the hollow bore of the spindle to prevent further enlargement of the spindle when the tangs come into contact with the undercut portion of the housing.

A holder and a cutting tool with the holder including an insertion hole at a front end part thereof, and a cutting insert that includes a cutting edge part and a shank part. The shank part has substantially a rod shape. A part of the shank part is immovably located in the insertion hole. The front end part of the holder includes a first curved surface part that becomes wider from a front end toward a back side when viewed from a side thereof. The first curved surface part includes: a curved line that extends from an edge of an opening of the insertion hole toward the back side; or a straight line that extends from the edge of the opening of the insertion hole and connects to a curved line that extends continuously from the straight line toward the back side without an angular part.

A cutting insert of one aspect includes a top surface including a first corner portion and a second corner portion; and a top cutting edge. The top cutting edge includes a first corner cutting edge, a first major cutting edge, a second corner cutting edge, and a second major cutting edge. The top surface includes a first breaker protrusion and a second breaker protrusion. A gap between the first breaker protrusion and the first corner cutting edge is larger than a gap between the second breaker protrusion and the second corner cutting edge in a top view, a gap between the first breaker protrusion and the first major cutting edge becomes larger as a distance from the first corner cutting edge increases, and a gap between the second breaker protrusion and the second major cutting edge becomes smaller as a distance from the second corner cutting edge increases.

A cutting element for use in a cutting operation, comprising a cutting edge (CE) capable of cutting out material from a workpiece during the operation, to form therein a workpiece corner of angle alpha. There exists at least one view of the cutting edge in which a portion of the cutting edge is delimitable by a first (L1) and a second (L2) line oriented tangentially to the portion of the cutting edge portion at respective tangency points A and B. The lines form therebetween a cutting angle corresponding to the workpiece corner angle alpha and have a vertex 0. For a bisector of the cutting angle intersecting the portion of the cutting edge at the point C, the projection C of the point C of the portion of the cutting edge on a line OL passing through the vertex 0 perpendicularly to the plane of the one view is located between projections A1 and B of the respective points A and B of the portion of the cutting edge on the line OL.
