System and method for drilling a hole for a countersink fastener

A drilling apparatus and method for forming a countersunk hole into a structure. The drilling apparatus may include a drill motor housing assembly, a rotor/spindle assembly, a countersink cage, and a countersink cutter. The drill motor housing assembly may have an inlet air duct, the rotor/spindle assembly may have a first duct and the countersink cage may have a second duct. The countersink cutter may have a plurality of flutes formed into a cutting end thereof. The countersink cutter may also have a third duct formed therethrough and a plurality of exit ducts common with the flutes. Each duct of the drilling apparatus may be fluidly coupled such that inlet air may be forced through the inlet air duct, through the first duct, through the second duct, through the third duct, and then through the plurality of exit ducts during drilling via the drilling apparatus.

Boring tool and cutting insert

A boring tool has a cutting insert, a holder, and a pressing member. The cutting insert includes a base member and a cutting member. The base member includes a first side surface, a second side surface, a third side surface, and a fourth side surface. The holder includes a front end surface, a rear end surface, and an outer peripheral surface. The holder is provided with a first hole and a second hole. The first hole is opened in the front end surface. The second hole is opened in the outer peripheral surface. The holder includes a stopper. A surface defining the second hole includes a first inner side surface and a second inner side surface. The pressing member is in contact with the fourth side surface in a state in which the pressing member is disposed in the first hole.

HOLESAW ASSEMBLY

A holesaw arbor assembly includes an arbor body, at least one drive pin, a base support plate, a support surface, and a resilient member. The arbor body extends along an axis and has a threaded portion configured to engage a corresponding threaded portion of a holesaw. The drive pin is supported by the arbor body and is configured to engage an aperture in the base of the holesaw. The base support plate is disposed relative to the arbor body and is movable axially to support the base of the holesaw. The support surface is fixed relative to the arbor body and non-movable axially. The resilient member is positioned between the support surface and the base support plate, biasing the base support plate axially toward the base of the holesaw. This arrangement provides compliance as the holesaw is threaded onto the arbor, enabling alignment of the apertures with the drive pin and allowing the holesaw base to seat firmly against the base support plate in a manner that limits excessive tightening and reduces the potential for gaps.

COOLANT DELIVERY HEAD FOR WHIRLING AND METHODS

A coolant delivery head for whirling material stock. The coolant delivery head comprising a one-piece plate like structure sized to fit between the guide bushing and whirling unit of a CNC Swiss turning machine. The coolant delivery head comprises an intake port to receive high pressure coolant through a coolant supply line. Coolant channels internal to the delivery head body, channel the coolant to a first and second delivery port and a blow port. The delivery ports are angled to deliver coolant directly at cutter inserts in the whirling unit during operation. The blow port blows coolant towards the tailstock of the machine. The coolant delivery head comprises one or more fastener holes for receiving fasteners to secure the coolant delivery head to a whirling unit. Precise delivery of the coolant results in higher quality machined products and less tool wear.

Self-adjusting pocket hole jig system

A self-adjusting pocket hole jig system is presented having a base, an upright assembly operably connected to the base, a clamping assembly, operably connected to the upright assembly, a handle operably connected to the clamping assembly, and a drill guide assembly operably connected to the clamping assembly. The drill guide assembly is configured and arranged to move along the upright assembly between an unclamped position and a clamped position in response to movement of the handle. Movement of the handle simultaneously adjusts the height of the drill guide assembly as well as facilitates clamping of the drill guide assembly for workpieces of various thicknesses.
