Components of an electronic device and methods for their assembly
Various components of an electronic device housing and methods for their assembly are disclosed. The housing can be formed by assembling and connecting two or more different sections together. The sections of the housing may be coupled together using one or more coupling members. The coupling members may be formed using a two-shot molding process in which the first shot forms a structural portion of the coupling members, and the second shot forms cosmetic portions of the coupling members.
Piston crown having conical valve pocket
A piston has a piston crown and a top land extending circumferentially around the piston crown, as well as a combustion bowl and at least one valve pocket machined therein. The valve pocket has a side wall and a bottom, and wherein the side wall extends at an angle of between 110 and 120 from the bottom. A method for forming such valve pockets in the piston crown includes machining the valve pockets with a rotating cutter having an inverted frustoconical shape such that an angle between a bottom of the cutter and a side wall of the cutter amounts to between 110 and 120.
ELBOW FORMED BY CUTTING AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
A hole is formed in an elbow through the steps of: forming a starting hole in a material, the starting hole having an undercut remaining on a hole surface; finishing an inner diameter of the starting hole (11.sub.-3) on one end side by revolving a side cutter (II) including an arc-shaped cutting edge and having an outer diameter smaller than a finishing hole diameter while rotating the side cutter (II) in such a posture that the side cutter (II) is inclined in a predetermined direction relative to the material (12), the revolving being carried out so that the side cutter moves along a hole surface to be finished; and finishing the inner diameter of the starting hole (11.sub.-3) on another end side by revolving the side cutter (II) while rotating the side cutter (II).
Anodizing resistant components and methods of use thereof
Methods and structures for forming anodization layers that protect and cosmetically enhance metal surfaces are described. In some embodiments, methods involve forming an anodization layer on an underlying metal that permits an underlying metal surface to be viewable. In some embodiments, methods involve forming a first anodization layer and an adjacent second anodization layer on an angled surface, the interface between the two anodization layers being regular and uniform. Described are photomasking techniques and tools for providing sharply defined corners on anodized and texturized patterns on metal surfaces. Also described are techniques and tools for providing anodizing resistant components in the manufacture of electronic devices.

MARKING AND READOUT METHODS TO BE CARRIED OUT BY MEANS OF A PROCESSING MACHINE, PROCESSING METHOD, PROCESSING MACHINE AND PRODUCTION LINE
To enable simple identification of a workpiece with little effort during machining of a workpiece on a processing machine, a marking method is provided which is to be carried out via the processing machine. The method includes a) providing a tool on a rotatable tool holder of the processing machine, b) relative linear movement of the tool holder and the workpiece along a line on the surface of the workpiece, and c) controlling the distance of tool holder and workpiece during the linear movement, so that a pattern of markings is produced along the line by machining with the tool to form the identification mark on the surface of the workpiece. Furthermore, a readout method, a machining method and a processing machine configured for carrying the method are provided.

Milling cutter and machining method using the same
A milling cutter is composed of a tool body having an approximately cylindrical or disk-like shape and a plurality of edge portions provided on at least an outer peripheral portion of one end of the tool body at predetermined intervals along a circumferential direction. The edge portion has a major cutting edge and a minor cutting edge that perform an operation of cutting a workpiece, the major cutting edge is positioned outside the minor cutting edge in a radial direction, and the minor cutting edge has a cutting edge angle that is an angle with respect to a plane orthogonal to a center axis of the tool body and set so as to be an elevation angle open outward in the radial direction. When surface machining is performed on a workpiece with the milling cutter, a high degree of machined surface accuracy equivalent to that obtained by grinding is obtained.
DIMPLES PROCESSING METHOD BY MEANS OF END MILLING AND END MILL
An end mill includes a major-diameter shank, a cone-shaped connector portion disposed at the end of the shank, a minor-diameter body disposed by way of the connector portion coaxially therewith, a toothed element disposed at the leading end of the body, an installation recess dented slightly in the toothed element, and a cutting edge held in the installation recess so as to swell in the shape of an arc to protrude from an outer peripheral face of the body.
