End mill having teeth and associated flutes with correlated physical parameters
An end mill includes a plurality of teeth and flutes. The teeth and their associated flutes include one or more correlated physical parameters. One such correlated parameter is that, at an axial location in a front half of an effective cutting length, at least one tooth of the plurality of teeth has a rake angle smaller than an average rake angle value of the plurality of teeth, and, at the same axial location, a flute preceding each such tooth has a helix angle larger than an average helix angle value of the plurality of flutes.
Components of an electronic device and methods for their assembly
Various components of an electronic device housing and methods for their assembly are disclosed. The housing can be formed by assembling and connecting two or more different sections together. The sections of the housing may be coupled together using one or more coupling members. The coupling members may be formed using a two-shot molding process in which the first shot forms a structural portion of the coupling members, and the second shot forms cosmetic portions of the coupling members.
Milling cutter and machining method using the same
A milling cutter is composed of a tool body having an approximately cylindrical or disk-like shape and a plurality of edge portions provided on at least an outer peripheral portion of one end of the tool body at predetermined intervals along a circumferential direction. The edge portion has a major cutting edge and a minor cutting edge that perform an operation of cutting a workpiece, the major cutting edge is positioned outside the minor cutting edge in a radial direction, and the minor cutting edge has a cutting edge angle that is an angle with respect to a plane orthogonal to a center axis of the tool body and set so as to be an elevation angle open outward in the radial direction. When surface machining is performed on a workpiece with the milling cutter, a high degree of machined surface accuracy equivalent to that obtained by grinding is obtained.
Systems and methods for milling saw blade tooth profiles and saw blades with milled tooth profiles
Systems and methods for milling saw blade tooth profiles and saw blades with milled tooth profiles are disclosed herein. The systems include blade milling systems that include a milling head, a blade support structure, a blade advance structure, and a control system. The methods include supporting a saw blade, advancing the saw blade, and machining a finished tooth profile in a working portion of the saw blade with an end mill. In some embodiments, the machining may include operatively translating the end mill relative to the saw blade with a milling head and within a plane that is at least substantially perpendicular to an end mill rotational axis. In some embodiments, the machining may include dry-machining the finished tooth profile in the working portion of the saw blade in a single pass. The saw blades include a plurality of teeth and may include at least one relief region.
AUTOMATED SYSTEM AND METHOD TO MANUFACTURE AERONAUTIC JUNCTION PARTS
Every junction part for an airplane wing is manufactured with overmaterial. Each part is measured with a laser based interferometer or other scanning technique and the as built measurements are compared with a model to generate a new trajectory milling program to fill or prevent gaps between parts using a points cloud and B-Spline algorithm to generate a new surface to be milled. Once the program is generated (new trajectories) and post processed, it is sent to a milling machine to perform overmaterial milling on already milled parts with overmaterial. This technique can be used to eliminate gaps between junction parts and the corresponding need for shims.

The sections of the housing may be coupled together using one or more coupling members. The coupling members may be formed using a two-shot molding process in which the first shot forms a structural portion of the coupling members, and the second shot forms cosmetic portions of the coupling members.

FLYCUTTER HAVING FORCED AIR CLEANING
An apparatus for machining a workpiece has a spindle actuable to rotate about an axis, with a flycutter wheel mounted to the spindle. At least one cutting tool is coupled to the flycutter wheel and disposed to score a workpiece during rotation of the flycutter wheel. A translation mechanism is disposed to urge the workpiece into the path of the at least one cutting tool. A compressed gas delivery system is actuable to force a flow of gas through the spindle and through one or more conduits formed within the flycutter wheel to the at least one cutting tool.
