Cutting insert and milling tool
A second distance is longer than a first distance and a value obtained by dividing the third distance by the fourth distance is more than or equal to 0.5 and less than or equal to 0.8 when it is assumed that the first distance represents a distance between the cutting edge and the mounting surface in a direction perpendicular to the rake face, the second distance represents a distance between the mounting surface and a boundary portion between the rising portion and the flat portion in the direction perpendicular to the rake face, the third distance represents a distance between the boundary portion and a tip of the cutting edge in a direction parallel to the rake face, and the fourth distance represents a distance between the second discharging opening portion and the tip of the cutting edge in the direction parallel to the rake face.
Milling cutter, cutting insert, and milling method
Provided is a milling cutter including: a tool body to rotate about an axis; and cutting edges at an outer peripheral part of a front end of the tool body, wherein the cutting edges include a flat face machining cutting edge extending along a virtual plane perpendicular to the axis, and a recessed groove machining cutting edge projecting further toward a front end side in the axial direction than the flat face machining cutting edge, and the recessed groove machining cutting edge has a first inclined portion extending toward the front end side in the axial direction toward an outside in a radial direction, a second inclined portion arranged outside the first inclined portion in the radial direction and extending toward a base end side in the axial direction toward the outside in the radial direction, and a tip portion connecting the first and second inclined portions.
MECHANICAL ROUGHENING BY A TOOL WITH TRANSLATABLE SWAGING BLADES
A method includes positioning a cylindrical tool having one or more rows of blades within a cylindrical bore having a surface, forming annular grooves and peaks into the surface with the grooving blades when the swaging blades are in the retracted position, and translating the swaging blades from the retracted position to the extended position to deform the peaks. The one or more rows of blades includes fixed grooving blades and translatable swaging blades having retracted and extended positions.
PROCESSING DEVICE AND PROCESSING METHOD
This processing device is provided with: a tool for machining a workpiece W along the thickness direction thereof, the width-direction external shape of the workpiece W being substantially finished; and a flexible vice 7 that clamps the workpiece W in the width direction without clamping the workpiece W in the thickness direction. The flexible vice 7 is provided with a position adjustment mechanism that prevents the position of the workpiece W from changing in a plane along the width direction before and after the workpiece W is clamped. The present invention is provided with a rough processing tool for performing processing at a rough-processing position, a finishing processing tool for performing processing at a finishing-processing position, and a control unit that causes the position adjustment mechanism to move between the processing performed by the rough processing tool and the processing performed by the finishing processing tool.
Groover with peening flanks
According to one aspect of this disclosure, a grooving tool is provided. The grooving tool has a body with a plurality of recesses. Plural inserts assembled into each of the recesses. The recesses include a cutting edge for forming grooves in an engine cylinder wall when rotated in one rotational direction. The insert also includes a peening surface extending in the opposite rotational direction from the cutting edge for deforming the upper edges of the grooves when rotated in an opposite rotational direction.
SURFACE ROUGHENING TOOL WITH TRANSLATABLE SWAGING BLADES
A surface roughening tool includes a cylindrical body and at least one grooving blade outwardly radially projecting from the body and configured to form grooves and peaks into a surface. The surface roughening tool also includes at least one swaging blade outwardly radially projecting from the body and configured to deform the peaks. The at least one swaging blade is aligned with the at least one grooving blade along a circumference of the body.
Cutting Insert Applicable To Machining Tools And The Tool Bearing It
The present invention relates to a cutting insert applicable to machining tools and the tool bearing it. The insert (1) has a cutting edge (12) which can be completely sharp or can have a rounding between R=0.030 mm and 0.050 mm, with an angle of impact (123) between 68 and 90 in both cases, and a rounded chip breaker (13), both arranged in a layer of polycrystalline diamond (PCD) (11) at least 1 mm thick covering the entire cutting surface of the insert (1).
