A coated cutting tool includes a substrate and a coating layer formed onto the surface of the substrate. The coating layer contains an outermost layer. The outermost layer contains NbN. The NbN contains cubic NbN and hexagonal NbN. When a peak intensity at a (200) plane of cubic NbN is made I.sub.c, a peak intensity at a (101) plane of the hexagonal NbN is made I.sub.h1, and a sum of peak intensities at a (103) plane and a (110) plane of the hexagonal NbN is made I.sub.h2 in X-ray diffraction analysis, a ratio [I.sub.h1/(I.sub.h1+I.sub.c)] of I.sub.h1 based on a sum of I.sub.c and I.sub.h1 is 0.5 or more and less than 1.0, and a ratio [I.sub.h1/(I.sub.h1+I.sub.h2)] of I.sub.h1 based on a sum of I.sub.h1 and I.sub.h2 is 0.5 or more and 1.0 or less.

The present disclosure relates to a cutting tool of a cemented carbide substrate including WC and a binder phase having one or more of Co, Fe and Ni, wherein the cemented carbide also includes a finely dispersed eta phase of Me12C and/or Me6C carbides, where Me is one or more metals selected from W, Mo and the binder phase metals, wherein the substoichiometric carbon content in the cemented carbide is between −0.30 to −0.16 wt %. The disclosed cutting tool will achieve an improved resistance against comb cracks.

An intelligent tungsten carbide cutter may include a shank, at least a cutting portion, and a sensor. The shank made of tungsten steel comprises a first end, a second end, and at least a first connecting portion, and the first connecting portion is located adjacent to the second end of the shank. The shank and the cutting portion are thermally connected through high frequency oscillation heating method, and the cutting portion is secured on the first connecting portion of the shank. An accommodating channel axially penetrates through a center portion of the first end of the shank and extends toward the second end, and the sensor is installed in the accommodating channel so as to be positioned close to the cutting portion, thereby achieving the direct and accurate sensing.

Surface-coated cutting tool and method for manufacturing the same

A surface-coated cutting tool has a rake face and a flank face, and includes a base material and a coating formed on the base material. The base material has a cutting edge face connecting the rake face to the flank face. The coating includes an aluminum oxide layer containing a plurality of aluminum oxide crystal grains. The aluminum oxide layer includes: a first region made up of a region A on the rake face and a region B on the flank face; a second region on the rake face except for the region A; and a third region on the flank face except for the region B. The aluminum oxide layer satisfies a relation: b−a>0.5, where a is an average value of TC(006) in the first region in texture coefficient TC(hkl), and b is an average value of TC(006) in the second or third region in texture coefficient TC(hkl).
