A chamfer tool which comprises a tool holder. The tool holder extends along a central axis and comprises a plurality of slot-shaped cutting insert receptacles, each having two opposing lateral abutment surfaces and a base abutment surface arranged between the two lateral abutment surfaces and extending transversely thereto. The current invention proposes sharpening thin hardened metal blades with the hard turning process using a holder designed to hold the blades in a firm and stiff manner and a ceramic cutting tool held in a fixture. Generally, the cutting tool is held stationary in its fixture while the workpiece, in its holder, is rotated such that it repeatedly comes into controlled contact with the cutting tool. In sharpening operations such as proposed here, it is critical to (i) hold the workpiece firmly and rigidly, and (ii) position the cutting tool in a precise, predictable and reliable manner.

A stump cutter tooth assembly includes a stump cutter tooth held by a pocket member that includes an arcuate shoulder having one or more tabs. In an end mill body made of ceramic, a corner R rake face is formed in such a manner as to contain a point B and at least a region B, not a region A located on a side toward an end cutting edge. In other words, a first end portion of a cutting edge on a peripheral edge portion of the corner R rake face is formed on a peripheral edge of the region B of a corner R cutting edge, and a second end portion of the cutting edge reaches at least the point B. As a result, partial breakage of the corner R cutting edge is unlikely to occur in the course of cutting. That is, since the corner R rake face is formed in such a manner as to start from the first end portion located apart from a point A, which is the intersection of the end cutting edge and the corner R cutting edge, and such that the second end portion reaches the point B, a large cutting load is unlikely to be imposed on the starting point of the corner R rake face. Therefore, the corner R cutting edge is unlikely to be chipped.

STUMP CUTTER TOOTH ASSEMBLY

A stump cutter tooth assembly includes a stump cutter tooth held by a pocket member that includes an arcuate shoulder having one or more tabs. A stump cutter tooth is adapted to be mounted on the pocket member. The stump cutter tooth includes a tooth body having one or more recesses and an arcuate outer surface. The arcuate outer surface of the stump cutter tooth is adapted to abut against the arcuate shoulder of the pocket member to prevent unwanted movement of the stump cutter tooth relative to the pocket member during the cutting operation. The one or more recesses of the stump cutter tooth cooperate with the one or more tabs of the pocket member to provide an anti-rotation and locating feature.
