CUTTING INSERT AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING CUTTING INSERT

A cutting insert includes a substrate and a cutting-edge insert. The substrate has, in a thickness direction of the substrate, a bottom surface, and a top surface opposite to the bottom surface. The top surface has a polygonal shape composed of a plurality of sides in a plan view as seen along the thickness direction. The top surface is provided with a projection projecting to a side opposite to the bottom surface along the thickness direction. The projection has a through-hole passing through the substrate along the thickness direction. The projection has a side surface contiguous to the top surface. The side surface is composed of a curved line protruding to a side opposite to the through-hole in the plan view as seen along the thickness direction.

Adzer bit with cutting segments

An adzer bit includes a support member that defines a through hole that is configured to receive a fastener. The support member includes a cap portion and a base portion. The support member also defines an annular slot that is axially disposed between the cutting segment cap portion and the base portion. A plurality of cutting segments are received and secured in the annular slot. The material of the plurality of cutting segments is harder than the material of the support member.

End-mills made of hard metal and ceramic combined by brazing method

An end-mill comprising a shank and a cutting portion along its longitudinal axis, and formed by combining ceramic and metal based materials via a brazing method. The cutting portion includes a cutting diameter varying between 2 to 20 mm, at least one web thickness found at a blade part, at least one helix angle having a cutting edge thereon, a core diameter that is at least 0.7 times the cutting diameter, at least one corner radius found at the tip part of the blades between the flutes, and axial and radial rake angles at which a cutting operation is made. TiAlN coating is applied over the ceramic-metal based end-mill by a PVD method in order to extend the service life of the end-mill, increase abrasion resistance, and minimize the welding (sticking) problem of chips on the cutting tools.

This disclosure relates to a cutting tool, having a main body, a cutting head, which is joined to the free end of the main body and is formed, by primary shaping, as a sintered piece provided with at least one cutting edge, and a cooling lubricant feed, which is led through the main body axially and which has a cooling lubricant distributor inserted into the cutting head for redirecting cooling lubricant into the region of the at least one cutting edge. According to this disclosure, a plurality of protruding spacers for keeping a gap clear with respect to the cooling lubricant distributor and/or the main body are sintered on a supporting surface of the cutting head as primary shaped elements.

MILLING TOOL AND WORKPIECE MACHINING METHOD

A milling tool is configured from a shank part and a head with a cutting edge that is provided on the leading end of the shank part. The head comprises an expanding diameter section, the diameter of which expands gradually from the base end that contacts the shank part in the direction of the leading end, and a decreasing diameter section, the diameter of which gradually decreases from the maximum diameter section in the direction of the leading end. At least one cutting edge is provided on each of the expanding diameter section and the decreasing diameter section.

T-SHAPED TOOL AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING T-SHAPED TOOL

A T-shaped tool is configured by fastening a head having cutting blades to a cylindrical shank, the shank is made of cemented carbide and has a tapered male thread formed at a tip end portion thereof, the tapered male thread becomes smaller in diameter toward the tip end, and the head is made of steel and has a tapered female thread formed therein, and the tapered female thread comes into engagement with the tapered male thread.

Stump cutter tooth assembly

A stump cutter tooth assembly includes a stump cutter tooth held by a pocket member that includes an arcuate shoulder having one or more tabs. A stump cutter tooth is adapted to be mounted on the pocket member. The stump cutter tooth includes a tooth body having one or more recesses and an arcuate outer surface. The arcuate outer surface of the stump cutter tooth is adapted to abut against the arcuate shoulder of the pocket member to prevent unwanted movement of the stump cutter tooth relative to the pocket member during the cutting operation. The one or more recesses of the stump cutter tooth cooperate with the one or more tabs of the pocket member to provide an anti-rotation and locating feature.
