DIE CUTTER ASSEMBLY AND METHODS OF MINIMIZING DEFLECTION
A cutting apparatus for cutting a web within a frame includes a die cutter assembly including a cutting blade projecting from a cylindrical surface and a counter anvil including first and second ends journaled into the frame. The counter anvil is positioned below the die cutter assembly for receiving the web fed therebetween across a width of the frame. The cutting apparatus includes first and second outboard bearing assemblies positioned on the die cutter near the first and second opposing ends, respectively, and one or more inboard bearing assemblies positioned about the die cutter assembly and spaced inwardly from the outboard bearing assemblies. Each outboard bearing assembly is configured to control a spacing between the die cutter assembly and the counter anvil along the width of the frame. The cutting apparatus also includes one or more actuators positioned atop the frame in connection with the one or more inboard bearing.

Method and apparatus to mechanically reduce food products into irregular shapes and sizes
Methods and apparatus are disclosed for producing irregular slices of meat from meat products. The meat products can be rotated using an impeller having a plurality of paddles for urging the meat products against a slicing blade during rotation of the impeller in order to create a slice from the meat product. The meat products can impact the slicing blade in different orientations in order to create differently shaped, irregular slices of meat. A cutting blade downstream of the slicing blade can be used to reduce the width of the slices of meat.

An apparatus for transverse cutting of a web has a frame straddling the web path, a side frame on each side of the web path and an upper frame between the two side frames, a circular saw blade suspended in a pendulum arm pivotably connected to the upper frame, a swinging drive for controlling the swinging movement of the saw blade, wherein the pendulum arm is pivotably mounted in a vertically movable sub-frame of the upper frame, and the vertical movement of the sub-frame relative to the upper frame is managed by a lifting drive that is coordinated with the swinging drive. Also disclosed is a method for transverse cutting a web.

A rotary cutter mechanism includes a rotary blade which is rotatably provided around a shaft center and which includes a first cutting edge portion, a counter blade which is provided to face a locus drawn by the first cutting edge portion of the rotating rotary blade and which includes a second cutting edge portion, and a protruding member which is provided on the edge portion of the rotary blade on the first direction side and which protrudes from the rotary blade toward a rotation direction side, the rotation direction side being a side on which the rotary blade faces the object to be cut in a case where the object to be cut is cut between the first cutting edge portion and the second cutting edge portion.
