Connection device and drive assembly for a cutting tool

The present invention provides a connection device or tool (10, 110, 210, 310, 410, 510, 610, 1110, 2110, 3110, 4110) to connect a first tool (80, 90) to a second tool (90,80), the connection device or tool (10, 110, 210, 310, 410, 510, 610, 1110, 2110, 3110, 4110) comprising at least one shell member 30 which clamps a first end to said first tool (80, 90) and a second end of said at least one shell member 30 to engage with said second tool (90,80), whereby relative rotation between said first tool and second tool is prevented, and axial separation of said first tool (80, 90) and second tool (90,80) is prevented or is assisted in being prevented. This results in a safer combination of the first tool (80, 90) and second tool (90,80), and allows for a one handed operation of the combination.

The stabilization bearing connects the output shaft of the epicyclic reduction gear to the housing by at least one intermediate part selected from: the drive shaft of the electric motor, planet-carrier axles of the epicyclic reduction gear, and epicyclic reduction gears of the epicyclic reduction gear. The arm assembly may have a single arm. The clamp assembly may be coupled to a base of a handle of the power tool with arm assembly at an angle to a working axis of the power tool.

A 360 rotatable drill shear attachment has a housing with forward extending shear blades and a rearward extending drive bit connectable to a chuck of a portable hand drill. A cowling is fixed to a mounting flange and rearward of the shear housing protectively covering the drive bit and drill chuck. A circular clamp is rotatable and securable to the mounting flange. Left and right rails slide-ably adjust lengthwise and pivotally extend from the clamp along the left and right sides of the drill body to a point beyond the rear of the drill body to a drill rear end. A connector adjustably is fastened to the rear ends of the rails to adjustably draw the ends together for securing the shear attachment to the drill body. The clamp may be loosened to rotate the mounting flange of shear attachment, and shear blades, within the clamp for shear blade orientation anywhere along a 360 axial arc. After which, the clamp is tightened for safe, one-handed operation of the drill with the shear attachment and shear blades oriented in the desired direction.
