The present disclosure relates to an apparatus for cutting substrate material, the apparatus including: a mounting frame; a base mounted to the mounting frame; an upper cutter device disposed on the mounting frame; and a substrate material clamp disposed on the upper cutter device and used to clamp substrate material, the substrate material clamp including a clamp body and a flattening member connected to the clamp body, and the flattening member being used to flatten the substrate material. In the above technical solution, the flattening member is provided on the lower surface of the substrate material clamp, and during the process that the substrate material clamp approaches the base, the flattening member flattens the curled substrate material, and thus the quality of the substrate material is improved.

The nose piece includes a nose piece body, a shoulder, a fixed blade receptacle and a rotating blade receptacle. The strand cutter includes a fixed blade received in the fixed blade receptacle and a rotating blade assembly. The rotating blade assembly includes a cylindrical cutting body, a replaceable shear blade or a cutting edge, and a drive gear engagement coupled to or integrated with the cutting body. The drive gear engagement engages the drive assembly so as to allow the transmission of torque from the drive assembly to the blade mount, the blade mount coupled to or integrally formed with the cutting body. The strand cutter also includes a flange plate, wherein the flange plate receives the shoulder. The flange plate retains the nose piece in engagement to the drive assembly.

A method is disclosed for shearing an end section from a rod material by means of a cutting blade that is movable against a stationary blade, transversely with respect to the longitudinal direction of the rod material, during the shearing operation. The end section to be sheared is brought into contact on its end-face side with a longitudinal stop and is acted on, via the longitudinal stop, with a pressure force in the longitudinal direction of the rod material. The action of pressure force on the end section takes place during the shearing operation with a position-controlled longitudinal position of the longitudinal stop. It is thus possible to manage with a lower pressure force than with conventional force-controlled pressure force action, without the shearing quality of the separation faces at the end section being impaired.

A method is disclosed for shearing an end section from a rod material by means of a cutting blade that is movable against a stationary blade, transversely with respect to the longitudinal direction of the rod material, during the shearing operation. The end section to be sheared is brought into contact on its end-face side with a longitudinal stop and is acted on, via the longitudinal stop, with a pressure force in the longitudinal direction of the rod material. The action of pressure force on the end section takes place during the shearing operation with a position-controlled longitudinal position of the longitudinal stop. A system for cutting to length at least two strands of long rolled products (3, 5) preferably coming from a hot rolling mill. The system includes shears comprising at least two rotatable drums (4,6), each drum having a cutter (8,8′,10,10′) arranged to cut simultaneously at least two strands of long rolled products into finished segments. The system further includes at least two movable guides (12,14), each including at least two channels, each guide arranged to receive and guide at least one strand (3,5) of long product. The guides are movable between a position wherein, in operation, the strands of long product are located in positions either outside of the trajectory of the cutters in a position wherein the strands cannot be cut or wherein the strands are located on the trajectories of the cutters and can be cut by the cutters.
