BAND SAW INCLUDING TOUCH SENSORS
A band saw having a touch sensor. An example band saw includes a housing, a motor, a first handle including a first trigger configured to be actuated by a user, a second handle including a touch sensor, and a controller connected to the motor, the first trigger, and the touch sensor. A first hand of the user may be detected on the first handle based on actuation or de-actuation of the first trigger. The touch sensor is configured to detect a second hand of the user on the second handle. The controller is configured to determine that the touch sensor is actuated by the user, determine that the first trigger is actuated by the user after the touch sensor is actuated by the user, and drive, in response to the touch sensor being actuated and the first trigger sensor being actuated after the touch sensor is actuated, the motor.
Workpiece guard and blade guard for band saw
A hand-held band saw for cutting a workpiece. The hand-held band saw includes a deck, first and second wheels coupled to the deck for receiving a continuous blade thereabout, a motor coupled to the deck for driving at least one of the first or second wheels, and a handle providing a grip for a user to hold the band saw. The band saw also includes a blade guard having a first portion adjacent the first wheel, a second portion adjacent the second wheel, and a third portion adjoining the first and second portions. A joint couples the first, second, and third portions to the deck for simultaneous movement of the first, second, and third portions with respect to the deck.

HANDHELD PORTABLE CUTTING APPARATUS HAVING A CUTTER UNIT
A handheld portable cutting apparatus having a cutter unit with a cutter unit longitudinal axis. In a central housing section of the cutting apparatus, a drive connection is arranged between an electric drive motor and the cutter unit, wherein a motor housing having a motor housing longitudinal axis extends from the central housing section. A handle extends from the central housing section in a handle longitudinal axis. The cutter unit includes a guide bar with a saw chain circulating thereon, wherein, in a side view onto the cutting apparatus, the point of intersection (S1) between the handle longitudinal axis and the motor housing longitudinal axis and also the point of intersection (S2) between the handle longitudinal axis and the cutter unit longitudinal axis lie in the central housing section.

SAWMILL CARRIAGE, SAWMILL CARRIAGE KIT, AND METHOD OF USING SAME
A sawmill carriage includes a frame having a handle, translation structures connected to the frame towards lateral sides thereof, a sawmill head, and a pair of transportation wheels rotatably connected to the frame towards a longitudinal end thereof. The translation structures are mountable on rails of a log support structure that can support a log. The rails extend in a longitudinal direction and enable travel of the sawmill carriage in the longitudinal direction when the sawmill carriage is mounted thereon. The sawmill head has a saw blade, a portion of which is positionable to cut the log positioned on the log support structure when the sawmill carriage is mounted on the rails, and the sawmill carriage travels in the longitudinal direction. The handle is positioned to enable tilting and/or transportation of the sawmill carriage. A kit and method of using the sawmill carriage are also provided.
BAND SAW
A handheld band saw includes a housing, a handle supported by the housing and configured to be grasped by a user during a cutting operation, and a motor supported by the housing. The band saw further includes a drive wheel assembly that is at least partially disposed within the housing and a saw blade driven by the drive wheel assembly. The band saw further includes a drive assembly positioned between the motor and the drive wheel assembly. The drive assembly is configured to transfer torque from the motor to the drive wheel assembly, causing the drive wheel assembly and the saw blade to rotate. The drive wheel assembly includes a wheel having a recess in which a portion of the drive assembly is received to shorten an overall length of the motor, drive assembly, and drive wheel assembly.
