Apparatus and method of monitoring product placement within a shopping facility
Methods and apparatuses are provided for use in monitoring product placement within a shopping facility. Some embodiments provide an apparatus configured to determine product placement conditions within a shopping facility, comprising: a transceiver configured to wirelessly receive communications; a product monitoring control circuit coupled with the transceiver; a memory coupled with the control circuit and storing computer instructions that when executed by the control circuit cause the control circuit to: obtain a composite three-dimensional (3D) scan mapping corresponding to at least a select area of the shopping facility and based on a series of 3D scan data; evaluate the 3D scan mapping to identify multiple product depth distances; and identify, from the evaluation of the 3D scan mapping, when one or more of the multiple product depth distances is greater than a predefined depth distance threshold from the reference offset distance of the product support structure.

Shopping facility assistance system and method having a motorized transport unit that selectively leads or follows a user within a shopping facility
A shopping facility assistance system includes a plurality of motorized transport units, a plurality of user interface units, and a central computer system having a network interface such that the central computer system wirelessly communicates with one or both of the motorized transport units and the user interface units. The central computer system is configured to control movement of the motorized transport units through a shopping facility space based at least on inputs from the user interface units. More particularly, the central computer system controls movement of the motorized transport units such that a given one of the plurality of motorized transport units selectively leads a user to a destination within the shopping facility or follows the user within the shopping facility as determined by the central computer system. By one approach, the motorized transport units move through the shopping facility via a plurality of preferred pre-determined path segments.

RECHARGING APPARATUS AND METHOD
Methods and apparatuses are provided for use in monitor power levels at a shopping facility, comprising: central control system separate and distinct from a plurality of self-propelled motorized transport units, wherein the central control system comprises: a transceiver configured to wirelessly receive communications from the plurality of motorized transport units; a control circuit coupled with the transceiver; and a memory coupled to the control circuit and storing computer instructions that cause the control circuit to: identify available stored power levels at each of the plurality of motorized transport units; identify an available recharge station, of a plurality of recharge stations distributed throughout the shopping facility, at least relative to a location of the first motorized transport unit intended to be subjected to recharging; and wirelessly communicate one or more instructions to cause the first motorized transport unit to cooperate with an available recharge station.
ITEM PRESENTATION SYSTEM
A display system combines a rotating carousel and a waterwall feature, enabling food, drink and other items to be presented in a unique and decorative manner. The carousel, disposed at a predetermined height within a cabinet, provides a continuous elongated track with a surface upon which articles are placed. An elongated open slot is surrounded by the track, and a motor rotates the carousel around the open slot. A first water tray is supported above the open slot, and a second water tray is supported below the open slot. One or more openings in the first water tray causes water from the first water tray to fall as a vertically oriented sheet, through the open slot, and into the second water tray. An electric recirculating water pump disposed in the cabinet operative to pump water collected by the lower tray back up to the upper tray.
