The gear cutting tool comprises a tool body extending axially lengthwise between a first end and a second end with the tool body comprising a first material. The gear cutting tool further comprises a cutting tip attached to the tool body at one of the first end and the second end. The cutting tip comprises an outer axial-facing cutting end with the cutting end having a plurality of cutting faces. The cutting tip comprises a second material different than the first material and the cutting tip is attached to the tool body via brazing.

A method for simultaneous production of at least two back-tapers on the teeth of a workpiece in the form of a gearwheel using a tool that includes a tool carrier configured in elongated manner, in the manner of a journal, and oriented coaxial to a central longitudinal axis of the tool, and at least two blades, which come into engagement with the tooth to be machined, removing chips during use, wherein the blades are held on the tool carrier at a distance from one another in the longitudinal direction of the tool carrier and a width of the blades extend over a partial length of the tool carrier. The position of at least one of the blades is adjustable in relation to the other blade, so as to balance out deformations of the tool carrier that occur during use.

A method for cutting teeth into working gears using a tool, the tool main part of which has a plurality of cutting teeth which are arranged about a rotational axis and which protrude radially from the tool main part, the cutting teeth forming an end face, two tooth flanks which point away from each other, and cutting edges. The cutting edges are formed from the tooth flank edges adjoining the end face. In a first method step, tooth gaps which form tooth flanks are produced in the working gear by means of the cutting edges using a machining process in a first position of the tool relative to the working gear, and in a second method step, the working gear tooth flanks produced by the cutting edges are fine-machined by an abrasive tool surface.

Field machining of wind turbine gearboxes

A gearbox repair assembly is disclosed herein. The gearbox repair assembly includes a sleeve having an inner diameter configured to receive a bearing assembly and an outer diameter configured to fit within a bore of a gearbox housing. The gearbox housing can be part of a gearbox of a wind turbine. The gearbox repair assembly further includes a retaining plate configured to be attached to the gearbox housing for preventing an outer race of the bearing assembly from rotating in the bore relative to the gearbox housing. Also provided are methods to repair such a gearbox. The gearbox repair assembly and related methods reduce the time and cost needed to repair the gearboxes.
