Systems and devices for performing powered threading operations

A device and associated system for threading, cutting, and reaming pipe ends are described. The device and system utilizes a brushless DC electric motor. The devices also include on-board electronics and operator interface(s) to provide sophisticated control and information as to the various operations. Also described are methods of operating the devices and several different modes for performing various operations.

The method for processing a raceway groove includes: arranging a processing rolling element rotatably between the to-be-processed side raceway groove and a tool side circumferential surface which is opposed to the surface to be processed and which is a cylindrical circumferential surface of a machining tool; rotating the machining tool relatively with respect to the workpiece; and performing a burnishing process on the to-be-processed side raceway groove.

Portable pipe threader

A portable pipe threader includes a stand upon which a pipe is supported, a carriage supported by the stand upon which at least one pipe threading tool is supported, a spindle including a plurality of chuck jaws for clamping the pipe, the chuck jaws configured to move radially inward along a travel path toward an outer surface of the pipe, and a sensor system configured to determine a location of the chuck jaws along the travel path and relative to the outer surface of the pipe, the sensor system configured to output a signal corresponding to the location of each of the chuck jaws when engaged with the outer surface of the pipe. The portable pipe threader further includes an electronic controller in communication with the sensor system configured to determine an outer diameter of the pipe in response to the signal output from the sensor system.

A portable pipe threader includes a stand upon which a pipe is supported, a carriage supported by the stand upon which at least one pipe threading tool is supported, a drive assembly mounted to the stand including an electric motor operable to provide torque to the pipe, and a lift-assist mechanism coupled to the stand. The stand is foldable about a pivot axis between a collapsed state and a deployed state, and the lift-assist mechanism is configured to apply a moment to the stand about the pivot axis during adjustment from the collapsed state to the deployed state.
